5 Billion Euros on Nokia R&D for 2010

Nokia’s spending on R&D have been reported quite a few times before, mainly for the significant expenditure in comparison with the competition.

This startles many wondering, “where is all this money going”.  It should be worth noting that Nokia doesn’t just make phones but also invests in infrastructure (which so far had kept them number 1). Furthermore, Nokia also does actually invent things (not just polish things that are already here) t he only problem is that they do take quite a bit of time getting inventions and innovations to market.

kauppalehti.fi reports that last year, Nokia spent 4.9 BILLION euros in product development. That’s 6.7 Billion US Dollars, making them the 11th largest R&D spender out of all industrial corporations…in the WORLD.
