Nokia Sabre spotted somewhere in the wild

| October 20, 2011 | 113 Replies

Oh my !!!…….. what do we have here then Pocketnow which have been on sort of a roll in recent Nokia leaks have post a picture of what seem like the rumoured Nokia Sabre.

Form the picture here you can see a predominately white device. Pocketnow are also saying this device will come with a 1.4 GHz processor 1 Gb of RAM a 3.5 inch WVGA screen and a price of of about 300-350 EUR.

Now of course we can’t make too many assumptions about this device at the moment due to the abysmal quality of the photo taken, but what I we say and I don’t know if you guys agree, is that Windows Phone 7 doesn’t look good with white phones it just doesn’t, in fact the HTC Radar suffers from the same problem.

thanks to Rav for the tip :-)

  1. Nokia Sabre shows up again, with bumpy WP buttons | My Blog | October 22, 2011
  1. Mathias says:

Elop suggested, that they could price their Mangos aggressively…

this is about the same as HTC’s Mango and 100€ more expensive than HTC Desire Android phone, with similar specs.

    • Rock says:

      HTC Radar is 400 EUR…. >.>

and the HTC Desire is about 350 EUR…

I don’t know where your getting your numbers from :/
But this does seem quite well priced…

  2. lordstar says:

Does not look good, i still believe in pushing for symbian. Just improve on it and it will sell will. Symbian belle is the start

  3. eze says:

    nokia n9=searay.
    nokia 603=sabre.
is it safe to say that every nokia wp7 phone will have a symbian/meego twin???
nokia playing it safe, pretty much if you dont like wp7 but like the hardware, then get the symbian equivalent (smart move, nokia)

  4. Johnny Tremaine says:

‘Pricing aggressively’ to me means, continued use of the cheaper Edof camera units and low internal memory 8-16 GB, and no hot swappable sd-expansion, since Windows Phone doesn’t support that.

  5. Jesse says:

Is that a front facing camera or a sensor on the top left? Would be strange to have it on the left no? Also would be strange if their low end phone had one and the SeaRay didn’t which if those renders we saw of the SeaRay are true would be the case..

I think these are all just prototypes or fakes, don’t expect to see these exact phones at Nokia World.

  6. Anjanu Sonkar says:

wow what an ugly device with ugly OS…uglly beautiful!!

    • Jay Montano says:

Ugly device? What a funny reaction. When Nokia 603 was released, it was regarded as possibly the most beautiful of the Belle devices. This is pretty much the Nokia 603 in shape (which btw looked like the concept WP to begin with which got a lot of positive reaction on the hardware design).

If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but if you liked the 603 and dislike this based on device design then there’s something wrong with your eyes.

      • dsmobile says:

603 looks better because it’s more slim design as the screen is not as wide as in this one.

I can sure you when you take both on your hand. This does not look as nice. I don’t know why it is like this but it is.

SeaRay does not have same problem in design as this one has. Maybe it’s the hardware keys.

      • dontom says:

Yes it looks a lot like the 603, but the problem is the mix of colours tend to be problematic with other colours than black because of the mix of tiles colour the black around them and the colour of the phone. The SeaRay works better because the bezel and the polycarbonate are just a small frame. If they could have the tiles in white on this one, maybe it would be better? All in all, not that bad though…

        • John says:

I have to agree with you Metro UI doesn’t work with white phones, as I mentioned in the post the HTC Radar in white suffers from the same problem. Unless Microsoft offers users more colours to customise the UI it will continue.

I am hoping Microsoft will offer more colours just like in Windows 8

          • Jesse says:

The user can choose between 36 different color schemes and the OEM “Nokia” can add any color scheme they wish, there are no limitations to what the OEM can do with color schemes.

            • John says:

Ah……..OK, does that include the back ground of the home screen as well ?

            • Harangue says:

Hmm, official WP site says ‘at least 10 colors’

Those 10 colors times 2 (black or white background) equals 20 possible color schemes. Add a few OEM specific colors and you might get to 26-28 possibilities.

Still though, even 36 is far too little. Just a color wheel and be done with it. It’s not like it’s impossible just a RGB #hex change and it should be done.

  7. Ninja says:

What we can say is Symbian is SOOOOO much more attractive, more feature-filled and more powerful than Windows Phone.

    That is all fact.

Not trolling, just WP is SOOO ugly!

    • Rock says:

      ‘This is all fact’

And you say your not trolling? Your opinion can’t be fact.

Also don’t forget how old and cranky Symbian is.

WP7 is a new born baby.

The Apollo update will add even more functionality to it :/ Either way I think ICS is doing it for me at the moment.

      • Deep Space bar says:

        it’s defective

      • Anjanu Sonkar says:

Symbian was cranky…now its very solid but is lacking in Hardware department…yes…consider this E7 has 680Mhz processor, 256MB RAM…now which Android device has this ??? Galaxy Fit, pro and few others…

now u decide which device is better…then compare the price…then u should realize that Symbian OS is knowingly being suffocated by Nokia.
Nokia and MS deal was done at least 2.5 years ago…I was working for Symbian in Bangalore and hence I know this.

  8. smegheadz says:

looks like it’s a cover around the device, lots of phone manufacturers do that. apple did it with the iphone4 to make it look like an iphone 3gs

then again it could just be an ugly phone.

  9. reptile says:

It’s supposed to be a requirement to have the back, windows, and search buttons… how come this prototype doesn’t have any of those?

    • Rock says:

Was thinking the same but its probably just over exposured picture which is why we can’t see them.

      • RaV says:

Maybe there’s a type of case on the prototype. so we can’t see the windows buttons on the bottom on the phone. Think that would make sense.

  10. Mad says:

    Excuse me for this.
    PUAG!!! The GUI is HORRIBLE.
I can’t see WP, it’s an illness for the smartphones

  11. Emmanuel says:

Hum this looks like a fake …

  12. Viper says:

Seriously what is up with that useless arrow to the right of the tiles. That worthless arrow is taking up an entire centimeter or so of precious screen space.
Like if you take it out, the other tiles can span and be full screen. The arrow makes everything under it black and hence the screen looks smaller than it actually is. Makes the phone look worse, I really hope they get rid of it in windows 8.

    • Vulp says:

It is not because of the arrow. The black space on the right side is to allow more room for scrolling so that your finger doesn’t cover up the tiles.

      • Viipottaja says:

Still, having the tiles cover the whole screen would look much better, I think.

        • Viper says:

That is horrible implementation, all that space just for scrolling?
Can’t they scroll just by flicking the screen like all touch screen phones?

          • migo says:

It’s a great implementation. If you don’t have that space there’s always the chance that you activate a tile/icon by mistake. It is a problem that happens on iOS and Android, so it’s better to design the UI to not invite that possibility.

  13. Rebbe says:

I think it is black, similar to 603 but it only has a white prototype case protecting it!

  14. migo says:

I like it. 3.5″ is a good size for me as I have small hands, and I like the symmetrical design too. 1.4GHz and 1GB RAM is also nice, and unlike most people I like the white, in fact I think the HTC Radar is one of the better looking phones.

Just goes to show you that producing multiple models for people with different tastes is a good thing. I’ll likely be buying it whenver it becomes available, as long as it has penta-band as expected (or even just AWS would be nice, as unlikely as that is).

  15. ilan says:

It’s a fake, there is no 3 buttons windows.

  16. andy koh says:

glad to know nokia makes ugly windows phone

    more chance for n9 survival!

  17. N9 says:

Ugly like all wp phones are

  18. RedMateria says:

help me to sell this phone if Nokia WP comes into our store :)

i don’t mean the bash the phone but, it doesn’t look good to the eyes…Metro UI is ugly for(eye candy)..just my opinion..

but i’ve seen how it performs. it’s smooth. no crashing and lagging..

    • migo says:

That’s going to be a big plus for a lot of people, like Scott Adams said, as long as the phone can keep a signal, keep a charge for the whole day and doesn’t crash he considers it a winner.

  19. stylinred says:

for some reason im thinking N97

    • migo says:

Shows physical buttons, which I like. Also as was mentioned on WPCentral, no FFC, which is also good if it’s supposed to be a budget model. I’ll be disappointed if it has no flash though, I’d like the camera to at least be in the ballpark of the N95.
