Video: Nokia N9 Multitasking 33 apps

The N9 carries the N900’s legacy of being the ultimate multitasker, both in the ability to run simultaneously a ridiculous number of apps whilst pairing it with a great multitasking UI that made it very quick to change between running applications.

It was once said to be capable of running 100s of apps at the same time. Why you’d want to do that, I don’t know. I rarely ever go over 50 on my actual desktop.

Anywhoo, here’s a demo of the N9 with 33 apps. That’s quite a lot, no?

However, is it me or does it seem to begin to lag somewhat? When trying to pull/swipe up the multitasking it seems a touch unresponsive. However, when the grid is finally brought up, switching is quite quick. It’s just bringing it up that seems to be a problem.

Here’s another video. It runs smoother here with less apps, though they also note lag eventually creeps in. Perhaps this may be sorted with the N9 update?

Hopefully in the box somewhere the actions are clear that swipe up/left multitasks, whilst swipe down closes the task, and the user knows the other method of long press and close so they won’t end up running tons of apps unknowingly. Having said that, with the limited N9 release, the prospective N9 users would probably be part of the more aware crowd.
