Another interview with Ben the PC guy, this time with Kevin Shields. I have to admit, the first time I heard of Kevin was at the Nokia World Lumia 800 keynote. Boy did he leave an impression!

I had not seen anyone on stage with as much genuine enthusiasm and passion as this guy. He was a great speaker, quick witted (remember how he effortlessly turned that no vodafone signal fault when calling the 710 from the lumia?). I love seeing people this at the helm. It gives you confidence that these guys are doing their best to deliver the best products, not just the bottom line.

It was great to meet a few guys like this, like Markus Ahonen – you might have seen him in the Play 360 video, he looks a little like Dexter – guys who are real experts in their field and just love everything about what they do that they can keep talking about it to no end. These are the guys that will deliver awesome products.

Anyway, back to Kevin, who’s a little calmer in the video. I love how this guy speaks. Finally we get a guy who can talk about Nokia products the way they deserve to be talked about. You get the feeling it’s highly desirable – which they are. I’m also kinda liking this Ben guy, he can talk up products too. We need guys like this – almost in one aspect of Jobs, the guy who sees the utter perfection. We want more of “it’s amazing, it’s phenomenal, it’s incredible” say it enough and it sticks.

When asked why this over Android or iPhone, Kevin says that when you do turn it on, the information you care about is right in front of you, no stupid grid of icons (err) or having to install 15 apps just to get the same experience (it’s there out of the box). He says on Android you literally have to install 7 different apps to get the same experience, facebook twitter . The Lumia just works. (Seriously it is neat. If you had to suffer Nokia Social then be prepared to be overwhelmed)
