Gallery: Nokia Purity Monster branded headphones

| November 3, 2011 | 15 Replies

Here’s some pics of the Nokia Purity Monster branded headphones. These come in Pink, Blue and Black, matching the N9 and 800 colours.

These sound quite good actually. Not had longer than a few minutes though. We had a session with Nokia’s Audio accessories heads and I mentioned wanting larger cups for the ear pieces. He said that they may be doing over ear styles in future. Now, if you’re going to get some bright headphones like these, you don’t want to skip out on getting some huge over-ears. They don’t just look good, they also isolate the sound better (an issue affecting the awesome 905(i) was the leakage in and out of sound).

The Nokia Purity headphones fold up so they’re easier to store. You can also extend the arms to fit the head. It’s much snugger than the 905s, another issue I had with those headsets was that they fell off my head too easily.

can you campare them to say… beats solo or solo HD?

    • Dave says:

They can only be compared to Beats, in that they’re equally naff and primarily a marketing ploy.

Neither Beats nor Monster has any implicit link to sound quality.

Better off spending maybe half the money on some Sennheisers that likely comprehensively better them in every useful area.

ill compare them for you; they’re all garbage

You really really need to find a way to improve the picture viewing system on the site!

    Black ones look cool

I would’ve given this more thought if they weren’t using (imo) overrated brands that charges you like hell. Nokia, you already made your own awesome headset (BH905i), you’ll earn a lot of respect by pairing up with Grados.

  5. Dave says:

Grado, Sennheiser, Etymotic …. would any such company want to be getting into such a branding exercise though? Beats and Monster are purely about the money. Grado and co are purely focused on sound quality.

These days, I’d not be surprised if Nokia decided to replace the 905i with a hideous Monster version. They’ve put Windows on the N9 (essentially) so why not go for the double and ruin your reputation with headphones also?

  7. jim says:

Guys, only companies like SENNHEISER, STAX and some others mentioned above deserve our attention only in terms of sound quality but not that crappy Monster junk!

  8. Just Visiting says:

Since there are also Monster earbuds, I think it would a great marketing tool to include them with new devices, or at least offer a choice between an in ear or over the ear set.

  9. ecua89 says:

Is that compatible with the N9?

    • Shaun says:

They’re wired headphones. How could they possibly NOT be compatible?

      • gtc says:

they transmit sound for sure, but the buttons that manage sound voulume and receive call button might not work. From Nokia web site:
*ControlTalk cable with mic, Volume and Answer/End key for Windows phones
*Cable with mic for other Nokia devices (Nokia AV 3.5 mm jack)
