AllAboutSymbian’s EDoF challenge – validating or condemning EDoF.

We had a little discussion earlier this morning on the pros and cons in EDoF – one of the possibilities for Nokia WP now that cameras are optional (also likely for enterprises where cameras in phones are not allowed).

Anyway, Steve Litchfield over the weekend said he was going to undertake a project either to validate or condemn this technology.

I won’t repeat the pros and cons. You can either check out the first highlighted article or head on over to Steve Litchfield’s article. There are plenty of anecdotes that can sway the situation one way or another. Again, what’s best is what’s best for you. If only all end users were aware of possible limitations of EDoF rather than feel annoyance when close up shots don’t come out so well. Then again, if they knew that, they’d know how to use AF. Perhaps as suggested by @JamesBurland and a few others, that if EDoF had an even wider depth of field to cover macro (not sure how) then there would be less irritation for EDoF.

Cheers Jill for the tip!
