This week, fonearena reported that Nokia partnered with PayMate to bring NFC Mobile payments in India, promoting it with NFC capable handsets like the 700 and 701.

Just by tapping NFC compatible items, items can be purchased. The NFC enabled devices could be linked via PayMate to the payment mechanism, e.g. a bank account, prepaid account, which would be authorised to make mobile payments, acting as a digital wallet and eliminating some need to carry cash and credit cards.
