Lumia 800 available in UK tomorrow!

| November 15, 2011 | 17 Replies

The title says it all, as of tomorrow the Nokia Lumia 800 will be available in all Three stores across the UK, (not sure about the 701 though). I don’t know how phones are usually sold in the UK but I’m guessing that it WILL NOT be contract free considering it’s coming form a service provider; however it’s probably only a matter of time before it’s available in all Nokia stores.

Thanks to Sam Moore (@jet247) I just found out that it is also availble from Three for £399.99 as a “pay as you go plan”

Will you be lining up tomorrow? (I’m interested in seeing what the lines would look like- if there are any at all. If you happen to spot an impressive line or any line at all tweet me a picture at @AliQudsi please.)

it is on contract and pay as you go
pay as you go will be locked to three for 400£

i guess not many people tomorrow will update their phone and for the ones wants it on pay as you go better wait are other retailers to have it soon unlocked with little more money on top
i personaly all my nokia are unlocked by factory

    • NokiaFan says:

How much is it to unlock a UK phone on the 3 network?

I bought my N8 from the UK who and it was on 3 and I paid around 20euro to unlock it.

  2. Shaun says:

There aren’t any Nokia stores anymore in the UK AFAIK. You have to buy them through a network operator’s store or through a multi-network store like Carphone Warehouse.

The phones are usually locked to the network through network specific stores. Carphone Warehouse tends not to lock.

Three are doing the Lumia 800 for ‘free’ on a 24 month contract of £30 a month upwards depending on minutes/data included. If you want it PAYG without a contract, it’s £399.99 inc VAT. That’ll still be locked to 3.

By comparison, that’s about £5 less per month than an iPhone 4s with no upfront cost of £49. PAYG is £100 cheaper with the Lumia. Apple still overcharging and getting away with it.

    • kan says:

Apple is not overcharging as people are willing and able to pay the price. It was the Telefonica exec saying the Lumia was over priced.

There will be no queues for the Lumia.
The Lumia can be had for cheaper if you look around. Free on £25 pcm on a 2 year contract.

Soooo its matter of time to know it the wp strategy will work.
Because despite the good impressions of web reviewers, that doesn’t mean it will sell a lot (Windows Phone has been praise by tech media in general, but still is far from being considered a third runner)

    Who cares?

  7. ddd says:

give me the sale number from first day?

  8. Nokiauniverse says:

As it looks like the U.S. is not going into recession, Nokia clearly wants to wait until we are before selling us any phones. I did import through expansys the wireless stereo receiver(Couldn’t they have given that a name or something?) and am waiting until Dec.3 before the English ship us some more Nokia Play 360. If it were not for the English imports, it would be a “coal in the stockings” type of Christmas in the U.S.

  9. Great piece. This is the type of information that should gain recognition for it’s craft. Thanks for the useful post like this.
