My Dream Nokia #38: Another look at a beautiful Lumia/N9 style Windows 8 ARM tablet #concept

| December 28, 2011 | 33 Replies

Nokia are known to be coming up with their Windows 8 tablet this year. This isn’t their first tablet of course, but the first one geared for masses of consumers.

We looked before at a concept which was pretty much a stretched N9 for #36 MDN. http://mynokiablog.com/2011/12/03/my-dream-nokia-37-nokia-lumiatab-windows-8-nokia-lumia-tablet/

It’s pretty hard for me not to like it. I’m not a fan of bezels at all, but Nokia scored with the N9 design. The bezels here are thicker than the first tablet we saw.  You’ll note the design at the back keeps the same iconic N9/Lumia 800 metal strip. No flash it seems.

There’s some other stunning phone concepts too. A twist on the Lumia

Another tablet here though not as striking as the N9 tablet like things above.

Should Nokia’s tablet resemble the fantastic N9/Lumia 800 or should they opt for something completely new?

    Looks awesome!

  6. Xan says:

Wow!! This is awesome!!I really like it xD

I wouldn’t mind if Nokia keeps more designs with this style. Even more, I think they should. It’s a winner design as an iconic brand. It could be such the Apple’s design for Nokia.
You see it, you love it and you know it’s from Nokia.

The green one is very tempting!! And i love those colourful tiles, a gradient colour on each tiles would be very nice :)

The colouring system for tiles on WP now is a bit bland and boring :\

  8. kannuchi says:

nice design.. hope Nokia can come up with more feature-rich tablet than the current in the market

  9. D_G says:

    niceeee..
im not a tiles or WP fan but the person who has made the shots actually managed to make the tiles tab. look attractive enough for my taste….
i would still love to have the meego OS on it but oh well…maybe this will be good enough for people…

Jay the design is awesome last time also u put some concept on the blog same like N9, this one looks better.

  11. Prasenjit Bist says:

Nokia can offer meego and Win 8 version or may be allow dual boot.

But Nokia Hardware and services will be a lot to differentiate

how are the sales off lumia ,then nokia could will decide wath way is good, but harmattan maemo ,must be continued ,just in case, and is the best, qt is big and no a slave off MS

  14. rock says:

Looks sexy but I hope they don’t keep following the N9 design forever, I want to see original ground breaking design every year!

  15. Jed Tylman says:

    Really nice design adaptation job.

  16. Sun Down says:

Sexy, and I hope they’d opted for the Black/White/RGB colour theme.

  17. That is just what Nokia need to release. If the tablet looks like an enlarged N9/Lumia 800 and is at least 10 inches then I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t get one.

  18. Oswaldo says:

Just make it with swipe and the “MAGIC KEYBOARD” appearing from under the device. Only then it could be an iPad killer or at least a decent competitor for it!

  19. Oswaldo says:

After having had a N9 for few months now and having tried all the tablets, it just feels STUPID to realize that they just do not work as they should. I have a feeling that they just don´t work, as it comes as an automate reaction to try to to swipe them. Swiping is the only reasonable way of using the tab. At least when it had power enough to handle several running applications at the same time. Swipe!

I still don’t understand this tablet hype. I have a neat netbook running Ubuntu and a N9. Those two fulfill all my communications needs while traveling. My wife has an iPad and without a proper case to support the positioning (and even with it), it slips always around. My netbook stands stable on the keyboard section while I can adjust the display to any position.
The only improvement I can think of is a 360 degree hinge to make it possible to flip the keyboard to the back and use the netbook in magazine mode.
If there will be a Nokia tablet, keyboard to act as stand and Ubuntu support (possibly as option), please.

    • StefanP says:

Actually a tablet with keyboard is no tablet anymore. :)
      But maybe it’s a “netblet” then. :)

    • Jay Montano says:

The form factor of a tablet is genuinely useful.

Perhaps not for input and creation of media but definitely for consumption. iPad is just an example of that form factor done correctly. My Uni is giving them out to med students as a ‘valuable learning tool’ for 4th years as a test and will roll them out to other years next academic year.

It’s great when you don’t want to pull out a hinged laptop. My touchpad vs my air, it’s more convenient to read on my touchpad if say on a train or in the common room or in the library. Plus it’s in colour and I can browse the net and videos, something I wouldn’t be able to do if it was say, a kindle.

I would ideally love a transformer where i can dock the nokia tablet into a keyboard, like the ASUS. That way if I did want to type away, I could.
