Mark from TheNokiaBlog was at CES and he got a demo of a couple of location based apps,

– Nokia City Lens, augmented reality places finder

– Nokia Transport

Nokia City Lens is a beta app for Windows Phone currently in the works by Nokia’s location/commerce team. We get a preview from Nokia at CES using the Nokia Lumia 900.

The idea behind City Lens is that it’s an Augmented Reality (AR) view on how to find out what’s around you. Points of interests show up in camera view. If too many POI’s within the vicinity exist, clusters are shown. Click the signs to expand for more details.

City Lens also uses the Nokia Lumia 900’s sensors to change view modes. When the Lumia 900 is held flat, the map shows up on the screen. When held upright, list view shows up.

I found a demo table at Nokia’s booth using the new Nokia Lumia 900. There were a few mapping apps that I haven’t seen before. This is one of them. It’s called Nokia Transport. It basically tells users how to get from one place to another using public transport.

Nokia Transport supports about 400+ cities and 50 different languages. It will be available soon at the Windows Phone marketplace.
