T-Mobile Lumia 710 for $19.99 after $50 Mail in Rebate!
Dear MNB readers!
No, that price isn’t a typo. Yes, the just released (1/11/12) Lumia 710 for T-Mobile USA is being offered via a full handset upgrade for Nineteen dollars and ninety-nine cents!
The usual handset upgrade terms apply such as the $18 upgrade fee (where applicable), signing a 2 year contract and a relative Data plan requirement.
If anyone has T-Mobile USA, Likes/Loves Nokia or wants to try something new AND is eligible or near eligible for an upgrade, sign in to your T-Mobile account online and select Upgrade Phone, or dial 611 from your T-Mobile phone and say Contract to the automated system or you can call T-Mobile Customer Care at 866-464-8662 from a regular phone.

$20 to be a part of Nokia’s Operation Rolling Thunder comeback… I just spent $13 on a haircut…. sounds like a deal to me!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Category: Nokia, Windows Phone

I just went to the cinema, got pop corn and a drink and spent more than that
I just spent 30$ on a sixpak of beer, thats NORWAY… and the phones are expensive too, but we don’t buy on contract, most of us anyway!
I am not a big fan of the 710 after using it but at that price I would buy two!
Sorry, but I don’t get it, what’s so special about that price for a non high end device with a 2 years contract?
Seems as if Americans already forgot that there was a time before the iphone and its insane contract prices
Is there a more advanced device out there for $19.99 on contract? Im talking about pure specs and OS performance. I don’t know of another device that has a 1.4GHz CPU, good GPU, best screen in that price range, fast and fluid OS, and sturdy (even if lightweight) build quality and a good camera for that class of device. This isn’t even counting any of the Nokia perks.
Please show me a better specced and performing phone (any OS and OEM) for $19.99 on contract in the USA.
Count in the Nokia WP perks and future development, this is an AMAZING deal, especially considering it is the ONLY Nokia WP device in the USA right now. Even when the 900 arrives, I don’t believe it will come anywhere near this price point and the WP on the 710 will run just as great as on the 900, minus the LTE and FFC apps.
Speaking of the iPhone, the iPhone averaged about $199 on contract for years and that is cheaper than many Android phones so I don’t get what you are trying to say. $199 isn’t insane in the US, that is the “sweet spot” for a high end device. Once you cross the $200 mark, customers hesitate to purchase and it is a different ballgame.

I expect that 710 will be sold for free once 900 is released..
Thanks for the link. That is a great deal for a great phone at $0.01.
I do note, as below, that dealing with 3rd party vendors such as Amazon and wirefly comes with even more stipulations that prevents people that are eligible contractwise to, to use the offer.
Even with the link you posted, if I select upgrade a line on a family plan (which is what I have), the price unfairly jumps to $89.99. Why? Who knows, but it does so that counts this device out.
Usually, deals directly from the carrier apply to all that meet the base upgrade eligibility and not any special circumstances.
We can find MANY deals by third parties, even Walmart has great deals in the store, but it isn’t often that a sale of this magnitude is available to all, on a brand new device, of this caliber, and related to Nokia.
I’m not saying this is the ONLY or BEST deal but for a lot of people, it is easier to go the official route through the carrier, jump through less hoops and get more for the money. With that in mind, I felt this was a great deal to pass on.
It’s got nothing to do with Americans “forgetting.” It’s got everything to do with there really is no other alternative. This is how telecomm industry works in the US. It’s all about getting contracts in exchange for cheap, carrier subsidied phones.
And for the record, that’s a fantastic price for a very good entry level smartphone. If Nokia wants to get back into the game in the US, this is the way to do it!
LoL
There’s Nothing like having Big Bucks to spend!! Microsoft at its Best.
At that Price range, the US will be flooded with all sorts of Lumias in no time!
You can get for free wirefly with a new T-Mo contract:

So yeah, great value for sure.
The only downside to using 3rd party vendors is that they have stipulations that T-Mobile doesn’t have such as additional termination fees, they may require you to switch your plan or add data features that you don’t actually need and in some cases (such as mine) your account type may not be able to be upgraded via 3rd parties. I have a military based T-Mobile account and I cannot use Amazon and others. I ALWAYS miss out on those deals
Now, for everyone that CAN take advantage of the wirefly offer, FREE does beat $19.99 any way you slice it
Thanks Viipottaja.
Yeah I know, there are a lot of limitations with these deals. But as this is a very cheap phone in general, there may be a fair number of folks out there with pay as you go or monthly contracts now that could be eligible.
Anyway, whether its $0 or $20 or even $50, a pretty good deal.
I agree.
Why the rush to discount this device? Someone’s paying that difference just to get them out the door.
This is VERY typical in the US at least – there is a “base price”, a rebate, and then a promotion (plus those 3rd party dealers) right from the get go, and perhaps even more frequently for the phones that at about $99, and that with the rebate and promo can be taken down to $0.
oh and to just add: obviously, for a device in this brice bracket in particular, the real money is in the monthly fees, extra services fees, SMS fees etc. etc. In general, my impression at least is that its still very expensive to own and use a cell phone here in the US compared to Europe. I may be mistaken of course.
You are entirely right. The required/recommended Data Plan for this device is $30 per month for 5GB of unthrottled data. T-Mobile will add this on automatically I believe.
That is the sticker shock if a person has NOT been paying that much for data. Example, I pay 5.99 for unlimited and unthrottled data. I will NEVER give up my “T-Zones/T-Mobile Web” for 3 of my lines.
Unfortunately since I am stubborn about holding on to my granfathered Data Plans….I have to buy my devices unlocked but hey…5.99 a month is better than 30 a month and the savings on Data pays for the devices themselves.
I do hope, as I read somewhere, that T-Mobile is listening to customer concerns about the high prices for add on services as going from cheap data/no data costs to $25-30 a month WILL deter first time smartphone buys and the budget conscious.
This is how things work in the US. Carriers subsidize smartphones in exchange for contracts. This how you are able to get $700 phones for $200 or $300! This is not a conspiracy by MS, this is hw things are done here in the US.
