Weekend Read time 🙂

This week, Steve Litchfield published his part 2 of his feature comparing Symbian apps against Android ones. This time these are the free apps.

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/item/13966_Symbian_vs_Android_app_for_app.php

He concludes that it’s not all gloom and doom for Symbian, claiming that as much as 80% that even geeks might want is on that platform. He says due to the size of Android market, there’s more multiple apps to do each function, and with more competition the Android ones improve much more rapidly (look what’s happening with Facebook now that more great looking facebook apps on Symbian are trying to out-do each other 🙂 )

The sad tone Steve leaves us with is that he reckons that situation on Symbian is unlikely to improve, given its decline in the market.

There’s still hope perhaps if Nokia does something ground breaking with Nokia Donna and really utilise the potential of Qt.
