N9Apps: QNeptunea (QT Twitter Client)

| February 13, 2012 | 8 Replies

This came up in my Timeline on Saturday and I thought I’d leave this for during the week. Apparently there is ANOTHER Twitter client for the N9/50. As expected being a QT app, is extremely fluid. To me, it is way faster than the native client, both in connecting to a network and retrieving tweets, as well as toggling between Compose Tweet, Timeline, Direct Message, Mention, Search and Options.

The only thing I don’t like is that to see mentions, you need to refresh the list, by dragging down and releasing. Unlike the native one, where the mentions are somehow pushed and highlighted to let you know. Since it is only the fifth release (v0.0.5) of the app, you don’t expect intense features just yet. I do see a lot of potential though.

The app is still in development, so it’s not available in the store yet. To get it, click the source link, and, if you’re on twitter, follow the dev for info on future updates.

Please port that keyboard to symbian Nokia. Also the app looks neat. Hopefully it will be come to symbian too as it’s Qt based

Very nice! Smooth UI and refreshes quickly. Sent the dev a tweet about what should be fixed/added. Hopefully next version which he said will be out tomorrow addresses my concerns.

Qneptunea is the best Twitter app–when it works. I’ve had stability problems since installing the latest update (version 0.0.15). Somehow, after a crash, it kills the Twitter API limit when it reboots/reloads and your account is frozen for an hour. It’s happened to me twice in two days. Dev seems aware of the API issue, so hopefully a solution is not far off.
