#N9Hacks: HomeScreen Backgrounds (App)

| February 14, 2012 | 7 Replies

Jay showed you guys that there was a hack to change the background , and today I am showing you the simplest way to get it enabled, regrettably using the Apple line “there’s an app for that.”

The app is called Home Screen Background Settings, and is a GUI that allows the user to change the 6 homescreens (3 portrait, 3 landscape). I have been using it and it’s really good. Only thing I wish was improved was the reboot to take effect, as I know it’s not necessary. (Only need to refresh the screens using commands).

You must have PNG files in your home folder, otherwise the app won’t detect anything. Tested to work with both PR 1.1 and 1.2.

Update: Apparently having 1.1 leads to an events screen bug, in which the content disappears. Only the feed icon and banner are displayed.

meaning, if we install this, the event screen will become quite useless as we won’t be seeing any post from the event screen?

Semi-useless. The feed headers and icons are still present, but the preview/tweets/facebook info etc. This bug is gone in PR 1.2.
