Nokia Opens LTE (True 4G) Test Lab in Silicon Valley
This week Nokia-Siemens opened a new LTE testing lab in Silicone Valley California; the point of these LTE test facilities is to simulate an LTE network and check the performance of your devices on them (as far as I could gather?); you might recall that a couple of months back Nokia-Siemens network unveiled a new Antenna which was aimed at making LTE networks more feasible to setup across the country. This is probably involved with what is almost a sure thing to be released at MWC next week “the budget friendly true LTE WP- probably the Lumia 610“; currently the Lumia 710 claims to run 4G on T-Mobile network; but that’s the commercial/advertised 4G and not TRUE 4g (which by most standards should be grater than 100Mbs).

The Golden Age 2 of Nokia has just started. Lets see what they blast at MWC. Or others will blast them like Htc did at CES by announcing Htc Titan II.
Ha makes me wonder why Nokia won all those awards at CES then..
@Muneeb…If I knew you, I would bet you my yearly salary that the Lumia 900 outsells and, even more so, will provide a more stellar user experience than the HTC Titan II.
HTC blasting Nokia with the HTC Titan II…pfft! Surely you jest!
You made me laugh. Lumia 900 was huge attraction in MWC , Htc was good but not blasted against Nokia.
Please do take into account that Nokia Siemens Networks (not Nokia-siemens network) is a separate company from Nokia (your image shows a Nokia slide)… Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) is for sure held by the two mother compagnies that are Nokia and Siemens but is independant…
Nope. NSN is included in Nokia financials.
Nokia has the financials due to that NSN is a daugther company since Nokia owns 50%. That is the only relation Nokia and NSN has, there is no joint R&D.
So… Care to elaborate why we don’t see NSN on Siemens financials? They take no credit on NSN achievments/results?
NSN’s financial results are consolidated within Nokia’s… But the compagnies are separated and do operate separately each in its specific industry!
Yes, they operate in specific fields, but they in the end affect the whole of Nokia itself.
Wait, the 610 is an LTE device? Is this a rumour or?
Until they are unveiled, everything is a rumour =)
I have always wondered why Siemens and Nokia didn’t become one company.
Siemens could do the SOC designs with ARM and since ASML and Imec are so close, it could really enpower that area.
Because Siemens is a bit like Samsung. A huge multi-sector conglomerate that does everything from kitchen appliances to industrial equipment. No way for a fusion except for a complete assimilation of Nokia into Siemens.
4G has been defined already. It includes HSPA+ and LTE, THAT is why you see 4G and 4G LTE. Both are 4G and both are true according to the official ruling. They ate simply different 4G technologies.
it’s not LTE it’s called HSPA+ multiflow
it’s a software that will be in more phones and will use two antennas instead of one which will be better since they don’t have to make LTE chips anymore

True 4G will go all the way up to 450mbit/s!
I want the Nokia LED Data Transmission Bulb so we can use the electric grid for internet.
