Whilst there were rumours that Carla might have been tested on older S^3 handsets, it appears that Belle FP1

which we think was actually Carla, won’t appear. It should not really be a surprise given the hardware on the Nokia N8. We’ve already had two major updates (Anna/Belle) and Belle brings it up to a decent enough standard.

The newer hardware will still get Belle FP1 as noted in the link below:

Earlier today we posted that the Nokia Belle FP1 update will further increase the 603, 700 and 701 to 1GHz.

This is confirmed on the English Nokia Conversations too. For 603, 700 and 701, they will also get a faster browser with HTML5 support, a new version of Maps as well as Dolby sound.

Belle feature pack 1 will be made available for Nokia 603, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701. It will bring Dolby sound and increase in processor speed from 1GHz to 1.3GHz. There will also be a faster browser HTML5 support and a new version of Maps. We’ll publish a dedicated story on fp1 later today, so more details to follow…

It won’t be available for the older Symbian^3 devices, only those three.

We could always hope that Carla would be different to Belle FP1 and there might still be a remote chance N8 might get Carla (lite?). Oh well, Belle is good enough. Hat tip to jmlion!
