My Dream Nokia #48: Nokia 802, Symbian Concept Transparent phone.

| March 30, 2012 | 18 Replies

This design looks familiar for some reason but I’m too tired to work out where. Anyway, it’s a nice refreshing design.

It’s a completely transparent phone (battery, and all internals and all – perhaps all the gear is around the edges :p)

About “My Dream Nokia”

I’m sure you’ve dreamt up your PERFECT Nokia device/UI. What it would look like, what it would feel like, what features it would have. Why don’t you share it with the world? Or at least with other Nokia fans :D .

It could be your own photoshopped or rendered work (seriously, you don’t need mega skills in either, basic paint job is often enough to convey a concept) of your dream product.

SEND this in similarly to tips@mynokiablog.com with the title “My Dream Nokia” and perhaps the model number (and a little description, maybe a few specs in the message area? Though this bit not necessary).

Who knows, maybe an image might flutter over to Nokia and through whatever route end up being real.

just curious, I saw alot of concepts on that site but what I wanna know is have nokia ever used one of these concepts? ever?

    • Rudian says:

I was thinking the same :)

    • Jay Montano says:

A lot of these are just fan concepts to share with other Nokia fans. We have had on occasion Nokia staff ask us for the names/contact of particular concept (UI/Phone) but we haven’t yet seen something come from that.

  2. Mahmud says:

Have you seen inside your smartphone how many schemes and stuff they have? with our current technology it is not possible i think, not near future…

  3. Maybe says:

Someone is more enthusiastic when it comes to WP but not Symbian. Sooner or later Symbian Concept Transparent phone will become WP anyway. Then, someone will be more enthusiastic to talk about it.

    • Jay Montano says:

      “Someone” eh?

Perhaps you could skip the childish act and direct the question to me?

I wrote this after a long and heavy day. I was going to go to bed and write about it for some other time but i wanted to schedule a Symbian related post (all the other tips being received were WP related).

There’s no specs that I could find from the source or designer. My At 2 in the morning there was nothing else I could write about. My subdued reaction was from being tired and also because I couldn’t find much to be excited about, regardless of what OS it was trying to portray. I was even too tired to find the little info box that displays what My Dream Nokia was.

What did you want me to say? Do you want me to artificially get excited over it when the only thing it adds is seemingly being transparent?

I was also going to leave the last post about the 808 for later (for a weekend watch, 1) i’m away for the weekend 2) so i could recheck it) but I wanted a Symbian post out. Maybe a lot of my excitement was on that actual REAL Symbian phone, huh?

Perhaps you could just try to act a little less paranoid maybe?

  4. Steve Barker says:

    Personally, I just can’t see it :->

  5. Johnnomads says:

Concept devices are largely fantasy, but ideas incorporated therein do often make it into production eventually. How many yrs ago were touch screen devices only an engineering concept?

  6. Josh says:

Think a transparent Nokia phone was featured in the movie ‘Real Steel’. It had neon like glowing edges too. But more … long’ish?

  7. Jill says:

One thing that just clicks me about this concept is .. ‘The 4 Icon Grid’ .. It looks so lovely !!

This is the next thing that should come to Symbian/Belle .. I hope it will make an appearance someday

    • Jill says:

Add to it, the step scrolling .. step vertical scrolling (the way its on current androids .. only difference is its horizontal)

Further add the Swipe Unlock (just like in the last post)

You do a few functional tweaks here & there .. & Symbian will look even better than before

  8. Madratz says:

Seriously, transparent phones is cool and perfectly possible, even on today’s tech.
Imagine ur background/wallpaper is constantly live images fed from ur rear facing camera. The icons/widgets floating over that. Don’t we have a transparent device already then? .. save for the phone internals that we don’t wanna see.. I wonder how come it haven’t been done before..
Damn, I should patent this..!! :D

  9. LVPVS says:

    Hello,

    What about this one? :)
I think it is more like an iThing, but still. :)
