We got this screenshot from a magazine showing the Nokia 808 PureView, priced at 1999 Saudi Riyal, equivalent to 346GBP/533USD. It sits in the brochure next to the SGSIII, priced higher at 2499SAR.
Cheers Ahmed for the tip

(sorry had to post this here so trolls would read this second to your comment)
*THE* Nokia 808 PureView separates the intelligent minds from dummies who rely on their bajillion-core smartphones that goes DUMB the moment it goes offline or out of coverage. Gosh it really irritates me to read comments criticizing the 41 MP.
It only shows they don’t understand how it works or they just refuse to understand. Gosh. I want to hit them hard with a fiery red Nokia 808 PureView! But not too hard ^_^v just hard..
Oh well.. At least I know there are still millions of people out there who understand this PureView tech but they just ignore those dumb fools posting bitter comments or anything to let us feel bad. But anything they say is beneath us, right?
So if a Nokia article is infested with troll comments from Android and iOS hardcore fans, let’s just smile with peace in our hearts knowing that we know the truth and should just feel pity for them. Charing!
Agree imagine a Quad core 1.5ghz running phone ! for what ? checking mail and updating facebook status hhhhh
Agree so much! Just like what I said in GSMArena:
“As long as it performs well in the real-world setting, why care about how many cores a device has? Of course, faster is better, but going into overkill is not cool. Who will use that much processing power on a regular basis in a smartphone? It’s not like people who own smartphones do mainstream video authoring and photo editing on their phones. As for launching applications, an average of 2 second delay at most would be acceptable. To put it in PC terms, you wouldn’t buy an i7, 8GB 1600DDR3, 2TB, 580GT build of PC for Internet, basic photo editing and office applications only, right?
Multi-cores are only for those who do real multitasking, and I am not taking about the OS, I am referring to the USER. How often does one run multiple power-hungry apps, frequently switch among them, and have at least one do some processing in the background? Example: Basic photo editing, HD video conversion/processing, HD video authoring, audio processing, HD video/audio playback. That situation is where you WILL need multi-cores. For apps that don’t do background processing, multi-cores are just a waste of money.”
~And now that the unit is out, we can now expect people to experiment with this phone to really see it true capabilities!
oh yeah ur the noble scarlet, you and sea breeze are the best guys!
im happy to find u here too, im a fan of urs just like i mentioned on Ahmed’s post. keep up the good work bro, Respect
Respect

Yeah, the 808 is the best phone is you are looking for to get the best camera you can have in a mobile phone.
If you want to get something else, it just may be a pile of junk. That is, if the camera is not the most interesting thing there is for you.
Now some people may argue that a camera or the best possible selection of Apps may be the most important feature there is. I think the most important feature is the one you need the most. That may not be one feature but a set of features.
The 808 is a nice camera but from my point of view it’s not something magical.
The 808 is a camera phone, and advertised as such. Just like the N8. This means it is a camera with phone features. NOT a smart phone. It seems you think the 808 is meant to be in the smart phone league.
If you want a camera and a phone in one form factor, the best you are going to find is the 808.
If you want ‘something else’ (or something ‘made for humans’), the 808 might not be for you.
So, Mr. self-proclaimed expert, please define “smartphone”.
Wow you’re ignorant! Smert!
It is a smartphone, every single bit and perhaps more than other OSes. Since what, 2005?
It’s camera is advertised so much because guess what, it blows all the others away! And by your amazing analogy, I guess the HTC OneX is also a camera phone, so was the Pixon12, and so on and so forth. THE BEST CAMERA, N8 at it’s time up until now almost, and now the 808. Why the hell wouldn’t they advertise? Anyway, I’m sure this comment won’t do you any good, because I guess you are incapable of any logic whatsoever or you would have some by now, you can read similar comments all over the internet. But comments like yours, smartassed and ignorant, are the ones you read and thus write.
You are probably right about this. The 808 is a camera with a phone what it comes to the general public. It would do better without the Symbian and without that more people would consider it as a smartphone.
Sure, there is no absolute definition of a smartphone so feel free to call that one. Unfortunately it won’t help the sales.
It’s very unfortunate for Nokia that they had to use Symbian as the OS for the first PureView device.
i thought all phones (be it iphone 4s, iphone 1, nokia 5110, nokia 3210, htc one x, nokia 808 PV, etc., etc.)were/are all designed for humans?
so what’s the point of bragging of the tagline “designed for humans”? it only shows how idiotic the one using that stupid tagline is.
are there phones designed for insects? or for ghosts? LOLS!
You really didn’t get that?
Sure, every phone is designed for humans. However that slogan is trying to imply that the phone is not made for people with excessive technical skills like the 808 and N9 are.
They don’t need excessive skillz, what does that even mean.
I’m not sure even you know….
Symbian is THE Smartphone OS!!
what a cool slogan: made for dogs *cough, cough* … ah sure, for humans xD ah sammy, sammy
True, true!!

wow, thats a great price.
atlast, when will it be released?
I’m waiting 2 buy it
good price
Just asked a nokia sales person here in the Philippines. He mentioned that the price will be around 22-25k pesos. Good price yeah. He also mentioned that the phone is limited edition… Guessing that will be the last symbian device.
@lordstar
It seems to be starting at a more reasonable price than the N9 did don’t you think?
Still, the only way to be sure is to see what price is like when it’s imported to my country.
(not officially coming sadly)
What do you think the sales guy meant by “limited edition”?
In Australia we only have a 10% tax, nothing as big as many EU countries.
Yep, good pricing really compared to the N9.
That limited edition worries me too. It seems like windows phone all the way after the 808. Hoping meltemi will be worth it, dsmobile said that the meltemi device that he saw could be a nokia 6xx. Good enough for me
@lordstar
Thanks for confirming that it’s better compared to what the N9 was in Philippines.
Sounds like maybe Nokia is “getting it” when it comes to pricing.
I hope it’s arrival doesn’t totally kill-off the N9 in your country.
Although it’s probably almost dead there anyway, thanks to the suite of Lumias etc.
I don’t hold much hope in Meltemi, despite what dsmobile said the other day.
I suspect the software will be far more limited/constrained than Maemo6x.
So even if the hardware’s very similar to the N9, the sw/os may kill it sadly.
And I suspect the design/aesthetic & build-quality will be pretty poor too.
But I guess that’s to be expect for such a low-range device
Anyway I guess all we can do is wait & see, the black-out’s been ridiculous.
“Limited edition” really worries me. I’m one of those who will wait a while before getting this device to allow the price to cool off a little first. I hope it doesn’t run out of stock that fast.
I guess the further west this phone travels, the more expensive it gets..
Saudi Arabia has almost no tax and Dubai doesnt have Tax at all, same for some other gulf countries, thats why you feel so.
What do you mean ‘almost’ no tax?! It has ZERO tax! No sales tax whatsoever!
I love Jarir, always bought all my electronics from there. One huge place, which amazing choice and as you can see, awesome prices! From my desktop to my laptops, and to all my phones except my N8 which I sadly had to buy from India since I’ve been here since
Abdullah Usman, sorry about that mate, i thought Saudia has a very little tax on something,(being fair i didnt research on it ok, so my bad)…
but still how come Saudia has it for 2000SR and Dubai has it for 2149 AED whats the logic? i mean im from Pakistan, and it makes a difference of about 9000PKR between both countries, why so? is the demand in Dubai more? or the shipping charges to Dubai are more?
and hey, i saw the Jarir fb page just today and liked it, its like awesome, a friend is going for Umra on thursday, can u tell me its contact number to dial from Pakistan with all the codes and stuff so that i can ask them if they have the 808? their new june-july guide states it as new, and has the 2000SR price, rather than coming soon written on it so is it available? or it might be in 4-5 days? can u help me regarding this? it would be really great if i can get it from there… ive posted on their fb page, but u know a phone call is more better in such issues…
Thanks and best regards,
Hasnain!
Wait, so no import tax, no sales tax ? I thought there were some import taxes..
but otherwise.. yes, it makes sense. Oregon doesn’t have any sales taxes either, but that won’t help me much, no matter what we will be looking at around $650-750 in the US
thats why i first used the term almost.. but yes dubai is duty free…
i dont even see any carrier taking it up either…
yeah prices in the usa will be high, maybe cause of shipping cost is more to usa than to gulf… or maybe just that nokia demand is lesser there, or maybe any other reason… maybe that nokia wasnt first bringing it that officially, and maybe cause nokia wants to make good sales in major markets… could be any reason bro, but yes it wont be less than the price uve quoted… tough luck for the americans kinda

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
limited edition means that you will be seeing the OUT OF STOCK banner so soon ! so hurry up and get one ! it will be only for the elite
Great pricing! That is a lot less than I was expecting.
What else did you expect for a phone which in your eyes isn’t a smartphone?
Thats awesome, stunning price!!! Are prices usually lower in Saudi Arabia or is Symbian really this awesome!!!?!??!?!!?!?
If this is the global price and if The Marketing Bonanza was behind this, then….at THE VERY LEAST this would sell more than all WP7s combined and it would build Nokias app store.
The Gulf has ZERO tax thats why everything even cars are soo cheap !
the gulf includes saudi arabia UAE ( united arab emirates) …etc
oh, ok, so 22% more here. Still great and cannot wait.
wow that’s a great price! I hope the UK follows suit with that pricing minus VAT
Great price, very good. Also running Symbian Belle which is very good OS. Hope Nokia keep offering this phone worldwide. 808 PureView rocks.
Yeahh , limited edition sort of bothers me too ! Question is is it limited only in the Gulf or everywhere ? It’s supposed to be coming to the USA , love the price so far !!
Chris Weber said that they are planning on bringing it to the US in some way.. I am assuming amazon with US warranty, i doubt they will put on the nokiausa website.
As of now, you can order from several online store, but no US warranty.
Yeahhh , I should think so too , though Amazon hasn’t done it as yet .
U can order the 808 in the USA from several places ? The only 2 I’m aware of right now r Ebay $999 from the UK and negrielectronics for $666.50 , both of these preorder with no stock ETA . Do u know of more ? Please keep me posted , thanks !!
am going to buy it now! as in now is it available at jarir?
count me in! save 1 piece for me, i want black! thanks
Jarir was a choked! as soon as i read this article about the availabilty of Pureview in KSA, I visited Jarir bookstore who obviously printed in their brochure.
I was so excited to grab one because it’s only SAR 1999 (USD 533). I approached the salesman where’s the latest gem of Nokia. He said it was bad communication on their PR department and they’ve printed on their brochure, whereas the phone will be available after 3 weeks!
So… I’m still on wait mode… is there a wait mode on pureview?
It has now arrived in Jarir Bookstore in Black and White….(At least in Dammam city Branch)….
