Videos: Amazing Rich Recording Nokia 808 PureView Kivenlahti Rock 2012
Let’s take a look at the latest ‘tests’ of the Nokia 808 PureView’s rich recording capabilities.
Video recording is more than just what you see, it’s about what you hear. Rich recording captures the audio around you so truthfully, when you close your eyes, it’s like you’re there.
There are more real life results people are getting from the 808.
It sounds amazing. The uploader noted editing the video beforehand and says there is some loss in quality after the process.
How awkward would it be if you had to bring your DSLR and mic boom. Some gigs don’t even allow folks to bring semi-professional kit, just pocket cams.
Cheers ukko for the tip!

I can definitely detect these videos are not quite up to Rich Recording standards. There is a noticeable loss in audio quality due to the user’s editing (mainly) and then YouTube compression too.
So none of these videos are truly representative of Rich Recording quality, or do it justice, but they give something of a pointer to it being better than your average phone.
Still waiting for a good Rich Recording example that is straight off the phone and COMPLETELY unprocessed
(e.g. from a direct download file sharing site)
Agree Youtube compression really ruins video and propably sound also. Thanks for the video anyway, ‘Get On’ video really brought memories from younger days when I heard real Hurriganes live on stage 5 meters away.
Full respect to Michael Monroe and Hanoi Rocks, but you really can’t beat the original:

(gonna spend rest of my evening listenig these)
This is getting worse right? Or is it some kind of joke? Video #3 looks diabolical! There’s no way that can be 1080p ..
If you go back a couple of months, people were getting test units and were taking some decent footage, which i emphasise was on YouTube.
Now people are getting their hands on this device, the videos are terrible.
I’m not buying the ‘YouTube compression’ rubbish anymore, simple because i have uploaded 720p vids that i have taken, and they look far superior than these. Either people don’t know how to use the device properly, or something has gone wrong.
Getting more disappointed by the day.
Yes, its not youtube. There must be something wrong with usage or postprocessing. In Vid4 yellow lights and dark wall in the right hand side cannot be HD.
As a good comparison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smXgnwMbzhU&feature=plcp has better quality when zoomed.
