| June 14, 2012 | 51 Replies

I’ve been hearing some news from our Filipino readers/friends that the Nokia 808 PureView is available in the Philippines.

There’s nothing yet on Nokia Philippines facebook page but the Nokia Pakistan page says the Nokia 808 PureView is available in Pakistan.

Your wait is finally over – The revolution in imaging technology has hit Pakistan! Nokia 808 PureView is now available!

Thanks Taha, anonymous and others for the tip

Oh, whilst we’re here, a retailer in Sweden has the 808 available.

ARGGGH!!! I’ve been an N80ie, N82, N86 and currently an N8 owner, but Nokia are responsible for their own demise. I have had cash ready since this thing was announced. My launch day N8 looks like it has been in a war. I need this now!! Let’s hope it comes really, really soon to the US, or an online retailer that will sell to me at a reasonable price.

The white version was also available for a short while at Amazon.de last night. I was able to catch one ;) And from what I heard they didn’t get enough black ones to even fulfill the pre-orders.

  3. Bells says:

It’s available for Rs. 55,000/- in Pakistan officially but there are retail stores giving it on lower price tags e.g. 53,000/-

when they launched lumia they were so noisy promoting it and even giving away free phones, when they launched 808 seems theres a weak marketing on it… no wonder theyre not serious with symbian anymore… when in fact no one cares and familiar about windows phone and symbian is even much popular, I heard a sales lady in Nokia Trinoma and she is bashing Symbian as being slow compared to Lumia. Poor Nokia and Symbian… that girl should try Nokia 808 and get fired…

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Can I strangle her?! RAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Grendell says:

Doesn’t surprise me at all. They’re trained to parrot the selling points so if you ask them for a head to head based on usage experience etc., they come up short. I came up to the display a while back to compare the L800 and the N9 and the store staff didn’t know the N9 was made by Nokia. Hell they even though Lumia had bluetooth file transfer but couldn’t show me how. After doing a few comparisons with the L800, the sales staff then asked me where I got one and for how much. I think she’s planning to get one for herself.

    • Zymesh says:

thats what i heard. Got mine in Greenbelt 1 Nokia Store. They only had 2 pcs of 808 and i got the last one. Got mine on June 12. Im pretty happy with its performance since im upgrading from n8. Got it on a pricey one though.

  5. Johan says:

  6. jake says:

When will it be available in the UK?

    • dss says:

I think most of the retailers in the US will be getting the UK model, so I am kind of waiting for them to start selling in the UK.. hopefully soon. The software for the UK product codes in up on Navifirm .. whatever that means.

      • Mapantz says:

There’s nothing on Navifirm that has ‘UK’ in the firmware for the 808. Not sure where you’re seeing that to?

      • Per Sjoblom says:

Only if they import it. The US will get its own version and will be available with US warranty etc.

    • Ammad says:

      It wont. Ever.

      nokia are dicks like that

    • Dave says:

Amazon.co.uk are now stating that it “will be released on 21st June”.

Clove are still being vague, I’m tempted to cancel my pre-order.

    808 tsunami has hit Pakistan…………………..!
    Love you Nokia.

  8. Cameron says:

what the heck is wrong with Hong Kong Nokia?! just release 808 damn you!

  9. Valmon says:

Nokia has to ‘let go’ of more staff and yet they won’t sell me the 808 in the UK.

Who is in charge of that company?

  10. dadgio1979 says:

Its already available in Nokia Store in Cyberzone SM Megamall. I went to inquire this afternoon and I was lucky to actually see an actual unit being bought by a customer. I was not able to control myself I asked the new owner if I could hold it, it was color black, it looks amazing especially the huge lens at the back. I asked the store personnel if theres still available, he said only the red one was left, the white and black ones were already sold out. By cash it costs around Php26k+ by Credit card it costs Php29k+. The proud owner showing his old N8 said its about time to replace it. If only I had the money I would definitely buy one…

    • kagenokurei says:

Hi! so you’re an MNB reader, too! :)

I was that guy buying the 808. It’s really too bad they are doing a silent launch here in the Philippines. I actually felt cheated when I read some news/blogs stating that it is already available in certain Nokia Stores. Had to have my wife call up and reserve me the black one before I could go out of the office and pick it up.

FYI, as you left, the salesperson felt that they should order 10 more of the 808. From what he said, 5 pieces arrived Wednesday, 2 got sold the same day. Come Thursday(when we met), only 1 was left. It seems they really ain’t pushing to sell the 808 here. There isn’t even one on display. One has to explicitly ask if they have one in stock.

      • Zymesh says:

theres one more left in Megamall. A red one. I wanted the red one butsince its out of stock i ended up buying a black one last June 12th.

I hate how Nokia.ph treats the 808, even the FB page doesnt indicate that its available. I only found out that theres one in GB1 because someone was commenting on my query before about availability of 808. its just sad how they market Lumias and not the PV tech

        • siphone says:

          I have the N9, but I want 808!!!

I will wait for the price to come down and hopefully Nokia Philippines still has it.

  11. Janne says:

Got one in Finland, had to skip red though. I will try to get the red case later. :)

  12. Edgar Allan Asor says:

Yes, Nokia Pureview 808 is already available in Nokia store Philippines but on a limited stock yet.

  13. JGrove303 says:

$609+ change is about right for the price plus tax.
I figured there would be shortages. Remember that report about chips from Ericsson ST getting a cut back in numbers purchased? Surely this will be a “get one when you can” device. Don’t wait around for a better price, guys.

  14. Paul Grenfell says:

$630au for mine delivered from SGBest in Singapore to Australia.. Took just 4 days..Now i have it all set up and it is a fabulous phone.. Much more comfortable than the E7 , even though they are similar weight.
The camera is superb, the new browser is good an the UI is the best of the Belles.. I dont have a problem with it.. The knockers dont know what they are talking about. Go get it..Its still the Top seller at SGBest..

  15. Mokia says:

My N8 died by liqued damage so im WAITING to replace it. But so slow with releasing it when you need it. Now im using a simple old one from 6 years ago Nokia that cost me 30 euros, but the battery life is GOOD when its empty 10 min is enough to survive not a touchscreen dow> 808 we need it ASAP! in the Netherlands. Lumia 800&900 does not do it.

  16. reebi says:

    I preordered a white 808 on amazon.co.uk – it says release is in a week! Can’t wait! Goodbye N8

    £499.94

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0080OSD34/ref=ox_ya_os_product

    release 21st june

  17. Per Sjoblom says:

I noticed that on Nokia’s global website under the hardware specs the 808 doesn’t have the T-Mobile frequencies (1700/2100). It seems to be quad band edge and wcdma and not penta band. Is the website incorrect or are T-Mobile customers f*cked?
