Photo: Early Builds of Wp7.8 Being Tested on Lumias

One thing that really surprises me is how well Microsoft kept everything under wraps, I’m sure there must have been at least hundreds of devices running these early builds or prototype WP8 but not a single soul who wasn’t supposed to see it saw it, now that the covers a=have been lifted some MSFT employees are tweeting pictures of the early builds such as that above on a US variant of the Stormtrooper Lumia 900- but are quick to point out that it’s still ” a Suuuuuuuuppper early build” so don’t get too excited guys.
An early build of windows phone 7.8 on my lumia

@tomwarren Sorry for teasing, I just wanted to show that it’s realIt’s a suuuuuper early build, we’re still working on it.
I must say i really LOVE the utilization of the full screen as well as the re-sizing, I for one don’t use the calendar tile so I would shrink that down; and adding the Phone/Messaging/Email and camera buttons as small tiles to the top row would act as a Pseudo-notification center getting the job done quite nicely.

Strong interest/curiosity brings about leaks.
i want to see a leak about pureview being tested on wp8,
I had no problem with earlier version of Tiles, but this current one is much much much better. Just the way it should be – almost.
On the sad note tho, I thought I will be keeping my N8 but since yesterday I am N8-less now and back on Sony Ericsson P1i full time.
Now all it needs is one toilet shape tile to complete one washroom home screen!
Android fans out there , would be jus gazin on these , lovely tiles in all those sizes now , way to go microsoft.
I would think they’d be justifiably satisfied with ICS. Since they took some Metro design cues, Android looks a lot cleaner and more attractive.
isn’t metro busy taking cues from others ? tiles is nothing but oversized notification widgets in many cases like the sms/ email. what’s the point of knowing how many new sms – it can be handled in a discrete way on the top like ios/ symbian/ android, or else have widget with previews like symbian / android.
so this time in wp8 – they reduced the “notification” tile in size to accommodate more useful info
No, if you don’t have an eye for art and design I suppose you might come to that conclusion, but Metro is the innovation in design. It’s not taking cues from any other platform – unsurprising as no other platform has a cohesive design language to take cues from.
I am not talking about design language for the overall concept. as a concept – it is unique. but as regards concept cues – it is busy taking previously existing concepts. you’d be lying if you say metro is an entirely new thing, without any reference to already existing designs. the whole tiles concept of scrolling like a long page is an extension of multiple screens, you may nitpick to say this is “different” but it’s pretty much the same albeit with changes.
and it’s very amusing to say others do not have anything new to pick from. agreed that while others might not have a single monolithic design structure, it can be advantage – in continuous evolution- like say the notification areas. it does not stop me from using the phone, nor does windows magically translate into something “magical” (to quote late steve).
for a person who is used to finding quick info at a glance on homescreen/s for many years – i find having to fondle my phone every few minutes to see updates is irritating and dizzying animation of tiles/ oversized letters.
tiles is either a hit or miss, which is why there are so many naysayers as there are fans of the same. i bet metro will be diluted to accomodate the concerns of people like me , where the tiles will tranform into widgets – squares will turn into rectangles to accommodate content, large boxes indicating an icon/ shortcut to an app will grow smaller to adjust and make use of the real estate of an already small screen. oh, wait, has it not happened with windows 8 homescreen already ?
So Ali .. You’re saying that You’re originally from Chicago , and just studying in Jordan …come on Man gimme-a-break
.
Just say You’re From Jordan already ,, and that You’re proud to be
bahahahaha. amen brother, be proud of where you from…
What if his family is from Egypt or Iran, for example, rather than Jordan?
Uhm I was born and raised in the states and plan on going back there as soon as I graduate; plus I’m not Jordanian….
