808 Pureview Appears on UK’s Nokia Page, Also Available on Amazon UK for £499
As Jay posted earlier it does appear that the 808 is indeed coming to the UK after-all, first popping up on the UK’s bit of the Nokia site with the usual “game changer” title more interestingly is its availability on Amazon.co.uk from June 3oth onwards (less than 4 days now). The online site has both the black and the white models going for £499, I’m not sure how much the N8 sold for when it was first released but I would assume it was something similar?
You can go ahead and preorder the 808 from Amazon using the links below, but don’t expect to get it before the 30th as it’s not in stock yet.

White 808 Pureview: amazon.co.uk/gp/pr…
Anyone getting one, or is that price a bit too steep?
Thanks for the tip DKM

Hurrah
You biting? or waiting it out?
i will wait for it to become cheaper, but it’s good that it’ll be easier to find in uk. Got too much stuff to get for the next year (our next Uni house has no furniture :/).
For me £499 is too steep, I bought the N8 direct from Nokia for £425 in 2011 and that was a stretch. There’s also no red version available which is the one I’m looking to get so for now I’ll hold on to my N8 a little while longer. In the long run Nokia needs to build their own Instagram compatible app for the 808 to stand a chance. Social/Communication apps, Photo sharing apps and a smooth browsing experience are the things that can make this phone truly great. A camera alone can’t it needs the software to support it.
Lol, instagram on the 808 is a really bad insult!
Instagram?? Are u kidding!! You should check the target market for Instagram!
It is safe to assume that people who’ll be getting the 808 know a thing or two about photography and how to tell between a really good high res picture, and an over prossessed blurry mess!
Flickr integration is what you’ll need if you want to show off your unalterred pictures and the 808 provides that out of the box!!
go and get an iphone for that instagram sh*t…
That definitely was steep, even for 2011?
I paid £329 for my N8 in Novemeber 2010, within one year i got a free unlock code.
I am gonna wait a few months before i purchase the 808 though, or however long it takes to come down a bit in price, that is, unless Tesco do the same thing with the 808 as they did with the N8.
Instagram is precisely what’s needed for this device. I know a lot of people that work in fashion, design & photography. Not a single one owns a Nokia, it’s either iOS or Android purely because of software support. They are heavily plugged in to using social applications especially for photo sharing. This is one of the major attractions of Instagram it’s not photo filters but the social aspect of the service that they require. Twitter and Facebook isn’t enough, you need high quality official first party apps for major social and web services.
@MontyN95 I agree with you on the flickr integration. There’s no point a great camera with great pictures if you don’t have any easy way of sharing them.
It has a pretty good built in editor.. instagram is for phones that can’t take good photographs, it masks everything with bunch of “cool” effects.. no thanks.
I think you missed my point. Some people want to take high grade photos and some want to share photos. The 808 has the high quality camera but not the social integration.
That’s why Nokia is dying. Too many arrogant designers and products designed for fanboys. It’s not all about the quality of the camera.
Nokia needs social sharing to survive. It’s funny how the fanboys are complainig Nokia is losing money. Not having applications like Instagram is killing Nokia.
Finally a voice of reason. If Nokia are to survive whether it’s with Belle, Windows Phone or some other OS they are going to have to partner with major core services like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instgram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Vimeo and Youtube to deliver official apps for device launch. Without them people won’t make be prepared to make a switch from iOS and Android no matter how great the hardware is.
While I agree on this point….
It’s quite amusing that you’d see this usr as a voice of reason.
Have a “detailed” look at the history of his posts.
Same date that they’ve had for a week or two now, so surely not “newsworthy”?
I’m nervously sticking with my Clove pre-order, wondering if I’ll regret it – possibly jumping from the front of the Clove queue, to the back of the Amazon queue …. not necessarily a good idea?
so with today’s currency exchange rates, this comes to $780 .. which is 80 more compared to Amazon US

The UK price must be one of the highest ones around.. they should at least ship the bigger box with the tripod in there for that price.
Surely the US price is plus local taxes, bringing the price close.
German price came over as £420, and in theory you should pay VAT on import, bring it close to the UK price.
So not sure it is such a problem …
But agreed, it should ship with some accessories, I’d prefer the lens cover back, already have a variant of that tripod design
Okay, definitely no more bitching that with the 808 it’s “N9 de-ja vu”.
How the two were/are distributed, are not the slightest bit comparable any more.
Great news for the UK peeps, sux to be in Australia
Agree. And yes, the Australia thing sucks balls.
Singapore just ran out of the white version! Argh! And the price hasn’t even dipped a single bit yet.
I’d love one, but need the price to drop a tad.
Great! Good to see Nokia 808 on one more major market. Now we need it in RSA, Australia, Canada and south/central America.
Ireland is also added to 808 availability map.

So finally, a non Lumia phone is getting promoted by Nokia. It must have something to do with being thrown under the bus by their most 0loving ‘partner’
Or perhaps because it was always the plan and only N9 was the limited release exception for special reasons much discussed.
Like I told you guys, a long time ago already: 808 is a normal global release. Always was going to be too, Nokia planned to sell 150 million Symbians (they failed for other reasons) – how else could they have tried but by selling Symbian globally, which they are doing. Too many people didn’t listen to me, but here we are.
I told you so.
£499 ?
Bugger off
Coming to denmark next week
Price 600€

With the Sony RX100 coming out I’m second guessing if I should be getting the 808 (its a more capable compact camera)
Certainly the 808 would be an all in on device but Im wondering if I should stick with symbian for another 2 years+ Im starting get a bit tired of nokia ! :/
Having said that I still have my 808 pre-order up in 2 places
I too would not be able to purchase one at release. But I fear that, though it is being released globally, they won’t be available when I can get one. Especially a red one. I hope they do sell 150 Million Symbian devices. And I’d hope that at least 100 million of them are 808s. Then maybe i’ll have a crack at one.
