Nokia Launching First WP8 Device This Year; China to Get Priority Treatment?

It was only a matter of time till we heard the first launch rumors for Nokia WP8 devices, this time coming from Chinese site WPDang who claim that Nokia have expedited their manufacturing process of phones to be able to push out a WP8 device this year (2012 for those of you not keeping track). I’d love for Nokia to be the first OEM to push out a WP8 device but at the same time they shouldn’t be too far ahead of the rest as the general train of thought might be “wait to see what Samsung has first” or basically that the next launch would steal their thunder, however if Nokia were to push out the first WP8 device that device would become the “face” of all future WPs (as is the current fad with the Lumias).
WPDang also reports that this time around China will be one of the first countries to receive the new set of phones rather than ending up as an afterthought, and since Elop has promised exclusive phones for each carrier don’t be surprised if we see 3 or 4 phones launching together; hopefully one of them will be pureview capable.

Personally I’d expect Nokia to be the first (or joint first) to launch a WP8 device. Also think Nokia would blow away any Samsung phone from an appearance point of view.
Am for sure looking forward to what comes out and hope my upgrade due in early 2012 to be a Nokia WP8 phone.
appearance and camera is all they have.. they better blow them away. Problem is, the camera thing is only temporary.. and the appearance is 100% subjective. We will see how they do..they are either going to be the SonyEricsson/HTC of the Windows phone “eco” system, or the Samsung, relative to their position in the android world.
If they are “the Samsung” of the WP world, I might say that the strategy.. kind of makes sense, otherwise.. I dunno, not so much.
Well said… Only time will tell..
As of now it is all speculation.
They obviously have lots more in store. I expect awesome Bluetooth 4.0 Integration ( Read up on bluetooth LE to know more), new NFC features, killer exclusive map features (3D ?), Scalado tech integration in camera along with Pureview.
They will also have navigation, where they can build apps around their own native browser.
Nokia also has build-quality, style, exclusive apps, navigation, commitment, customer service, colour choice, name and I’m sure I’m missing some others over Samsung.
Why does everyone keep forgetting about Rich Recording. Basically Nokia has RR, PV, CBD, Navi-integration and design.
I would probalby know that if I had a fracken Lumia 900 but my carrier (Bell) is the worst carrier in the western world for Windows Phone. And I was never able to find a cyan undbranded, unlocked Lumia 900 LTE to buy out of contract. When the WP8′s arrive I will have a Lumia one way or either even if I have to switch carriers or emigrate to a differenct country
i dont know why you guys are listing navigation as a + since it will be on all WP phones be it Nokia, Samsung, ZTE, Etc
I believe there will be exclusive services for the Lumia, i mean there should be.
“Nokia Launching First WP8 Device This Year”
Sounds like only one and more towards the end of this year.
They should at least release a full lineup and as soon as possible in order to have at least a minimal chance to gain some marketshare. Their WP “7.8″ Lumia paperweights won’t be able to save them

Thank you for embracing our current paperwieghts that are the lumpia series. Microsoft and I, have now thought up of a new phone its called wp8. Please buy our new shiney wp8 paperweights and chuck your wp7 device opps i mean brick into the pond.
Yours.
unamed persons .
If you had ever owned a lumia and used the perfect OS, you know the current lumia and OS crushes their competition. I just downloaded another great app that works great on the current lumia, 6 Flags Parks! Its nice having a paperweight that keeps getting better every week. Do I need, want or desire Bluetooth transfer? I have not even used the video calls yet. At least with a lumia paperweight its better than a Sammy paperweight. I may buy a Sammy product though, the Sammy hot plate.
lmao…it’s not april first anymore
wp7.x is not the perfect os. None exists, everyone has its strengths and weaknesses.
LOL. sad. Its so perfect except this and this and this… dont work yet and we now have apps and its not gettin upgraded but its ok…cuz im ok with this and this and this that dont work and in the end it doesnt need more than one core cuz its “buttery smooth”. Perfect!
The camera had better be equal the quality of the N8.
If not i’m gonna be disappointed.
Problem with waiting for what other manufacturers do with WP8 first is, that you need at least a year to develop a device completely new. Okay, Nokia pulled this off with the Lumia devices in about 8 months (after Feb11), but their WP8 devices must be in beta testing by now.
All in all, can’t wait for Nokia’s WP8 devices!
But as a Lumia 800 user I’m confident WP 7.8 will be pretty sweet too.
there should be carefully postioned models.like they did with lumia 800,710 and 610.and top end one should have an N8 level camera.sammy and htc may wont go beyond 8mp cameras.
will wp8 even be ready for pureview tech in the near future? I mean if it took nokia 5 years to develop it for symbian shouldnt it take atleast 2 year to 3 years to make it for wp8?
MMM… PV Lite version, yeap it’s ready… for PV Pro, is an unknown question, some folks says PV Pro wont come to WP 8…
wonder if they’ll have an E series device with WP8 on it… that would be nice to see
If the rumor is true that the windows 8 device of Nokia would have a thinner design than the lumia 900 with a curved screen then I’m uber excited to see that.
Nokia’s priority is Asia, US and UK. in that order
China Mobile is the largest cellular carrier in the world with over 600 million GSM users. China Telecom (CDMA) and China Unicom (GSM/UMTS) have the rest of the market. Nokia was previously strong in China with lower cost Symbian devices but those were undercut by local Android handsets.
These WP8 devices will probably target the mid- and high end of the market first but with such a huge population, it’s definitely worthwhile to try. Getting localized services to work seamlessly on WP8 will be the key factor to success. I assume Nokia would release at least two variants like what they did with the Lumia 800 – one on GSM/UMTS/LTE and another on CDMA.
i can’t wait to hear them say, ‘We own Nokia’ lol! #China
