Video: Nokia 808 PureView vs Sony NEX-7, video, AF and audio test.
This video shows the Nokia 808 PureView video and AF against the Sony NEX-7. The NEX-7 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that targets advanced users, twice as expensive as the 808.
The Nokia 808 PureView’s video is using zoom to match the field of view of NEX-7. Notice how slow and inaccurate the autofocus is of the NEX-7 in comparison to the 808.
The second video tests out the audio.
The focus looks bad in this video because this is NOT an AF lens. The 808 was also set to ‘manual’ focus.
The rich recording on the 808 isn’t as impressive as I’ve heard it before. There’s a strange sound (like wind blowing against the mic) that I’ve not noticed in an 808 video before. It’s often present in phones/pocket cams but it was something the 808 I found reduced a lot, so it’s strange to hear it here.

Maybe one more comparison? I would like to see one about availability. It was promised the 808 would be available in May. Now it seems to be July.

Ive been waiting forever but finally found it in stock over @ Amazon.fr ordered it yesterday it shipped today and is supposed to be arriving next week
had to pay a premium over Amazon.de sale price ($100 more)
I don’t know why people are always comparing the 808 with cameras with poor video quality? Maybe the NEX-7 is for advanced users and twice as expensive as the 808, but nevertheless video quality is poor. There way more cheaper alternatives, delivering better videos! Compare the video quality of 808 with Sonys DSC-HX9V which is a PS camera half the price of 808.
Can it shoot in 1080p?
It can even shoot in 1080p @50fps! Just search youtube for Sony hx9v
Sony cams are supposed to be pretty good in video
and imo it beat the 808 in this comparison even though he wasn’t comparing PQ he was comparing AF and Audio
any website to appy for symbian certificate? i recently applied one at opda website, it is still showing that my cert application is being processed after one week, sigh
opda stopped giving certificates like a year+ ago
there are none now you;re only option is to hack it which is simpler than signing apps i suppose (and that’s already easy)
