Video: Nokia Belle “Upload to SkyDrive” demoed on Nokia 808

| July 12, 2012 | 33 Replies

Yesterday we posted about a new update released for Nokia Belle devices that enables auto-uploads of photos to Skydrive, here’s a quick demo I shot last night showing how the app works:

Couple notes about the app itself:

  • Unfortunately the update doesn’t bring an option to share selected photos from the gallery (under share in the galley the only two options are facebook and Flickr)
  • The app runs silently in the background and seems quite stable
  • It’s a very much welcome feature to Symbians limited sharing capabilities ever since pixelpipe was removed from the store/support was dropped.

Did you update this via Nokia Suite or Over the Air???

For those who still rock an old pixelpipe account, here’s the latest beta that got pushed out to us testers before they removed their product from the store and closed their access for outsiders…

App working perfect on my 808:

Cool, might be useful with the 808.

Great to see Symbian getting updates from the Nokia-Microsoft partnership too.

Off topic i know .. but my 808 turned up today .. and i love it! The screen is beautiful, the design is beautiful, it’s just a pleasure to own such a device!
I’ve already got the firmware update, which i will install shortly. The only problem i have had, is the fact i had to pop to the shop to get my sim card cut to the micro sim size which wasn’t really a problem to be honest.
Best device i’ve ever owned! :D

Congrats, What color did you get?

Honestly I can’t get past Symbians horrible keyboard… the placement of the @ sign as a default is just idiotic…

        • MoritzJT says:

Yeah, neither can I, though FSX did a great job on harmattanizing it. Swype is the solution or one of the Asian FEP replacements.

        • Mapantz says:

I got the black one, after some careful thinking .. the Orange or White one would have gotten quite grubby.
I actually forgot that the camera bump has the chrome effect, so i was really pleased with that.
Are you talking about the qwerty keyboard? I never use it myself, i prefer the aplha-numeric one with the dictionary enabled.
Just installed fMobi on it, and it goes like a rocket compared to my N8! Really fast and smooth. Also, the few sites i do visit when using the browser load so fast now. I don’t personally get why reviewers make such a big deal about the screen? Ok it’s not like a Galaxy or iPhone, but for it does, the colours are gorgeous on the eye.

          • Janne says:

Yeah, the black one has a chromey (silvery?) camera bump where as the white and I guess the red have a black (but glossy) camera bump. It is a nice detail on the black one, separates it a bit from the rest.

        Excellent, congratulations! :)

There is an app called SkyFiles on Nokia Store for uploading to Skydrive, it says. Not sure how good it is as I haven’t downloaded it myself.

    Monday my white comes.

  6. spacemodel says:

No need for Skydrive, not only because of its limitations.
CuteBox works superb on your Belle device; folders, pictures, videos, files, you can share them all to your Dropbox client and the omission with Skydrive of sharing selected pics is something you don’t have to bother about with CuteBox cause it’s all there.

Simple, easy to use and it covers everything: CuteBox for Dropbox is the way to go.

Offtopic: Yay, I finally habe my 808 now! :-) It looks much prettier than I expected. Am now getting to know the os, it has changed a lot since I last used it. It is much smoother now ad reminds me a bit of android. So far I really like it. I will keep my Lumia though cause I like its ui as well and it has a few apps I don’t want to miss. Thank god both are working with a microsim!

Two smartphones. I must be crazy. ;-) Won’t get a tablet though.

    • Janne says:

      Congratulations Mimi!

Two smartphones. I must be crazy.

No you’re not, welcome to the multiphone club! :D

And the 808 *is* a lot prettier that pictures would suggest.

      • Mapantz says:

        Yep! 100% agree with this.
And i will go as far to say, i actually prefer the design and build to an iPhone or the Galaxies for example. Everybody says about it being ‘thick’ blah blah .. I feel more comfortable holding it in one hand than any other phone and i don’t get the feeling i might drop it, which i get with all these thin phones.

cant make the auto upload work… im still running .309 since theres still no update for my 808 :( , 059M9LS
