Nokia Phi 6 Fabulous Color Renders; Looking Good

| August 25, 2012 | 59 Replies

Let me start off by saying that by no means is this official, I’m not sure who made this but I saw it tweeted by Cambo and thought I’d share it. Here’s a render of the Nokia Phi (approximately 4.65” if the rumors are to be trusted) in 6 gorgeous colors. So which one do you prefer? I think this time around I’d take a pass on the white and either go with the orange or the red (The yellow and green are to florescent for my liking, and look like dirt magnets).

Note: Let me remind you that these are RENDERS = not official, CambO from blog-n8.fr put them together using the leaked bezzels as a guide

althought i’m not a fan of metro i relly like the design, colors and metro really fits in the picture:)

    • Paul Grenfell says:

same here.. the Phone itself looks like N9, which i really like, but..Metro to me, is awful..

      • NOKIAAAA says:

hmm IWANT NOKIA LOGO ON CENTER NOT RIGHT(IF THERE IS A CARRIER NAME LIKE ONN L900 ATT ITS OKAY)
or without nokia logo, nokia loo replaced on the back

      • twig says:

You get rid of the metro look with wallpaper app and wiztiles. Microsoft gives you the tiles, you decide on the look. I just changed mine to 5 Fall color pictures and the tiles to gold, looks great. Wallpaper app just added a lot of great looking nature apps.

    • Yemi says:

It’s no longer called metro BTW. Most people don’t like the tiles having the same color. The tiles give a widget look once there is variety in tile colors throughout. One of the most successful apps on the iPad is Flipboard which has almost the same tile format which means there’s a lot of people that like tiles.

    • Doffen says:

No logo on the front is the best. The front side is precious real estate and should be used for functional items only. Keep the logos on the back side. AT&T, Verizon et al. can smear their mark there to their hearts content.

  2. JGrove says:

Orange or green………Probably orange. Goes with my N8-00

  3. Uludag-Gazoz says:

    CambO made this. See http://nokia-touch.fr

  4. qromodynmc says:

Where is black? I dont like black actually but,There is a lot of people who likes black.

  5. sinple says:

i dunno about other ppl, but the homescreen looks very messy to me

    • Yemi says:

That’s why you can resize the tiles. I personally will make most icons wide to fit screen which means I will have two half screen wide tiles on top and three full screen wide tiles below it. Gives it a clean look.

    • Pdexter says:

Well then make it 4 tiny and 4 big tiles tiles. You can customize is as you like.

  6. B.Srikanth. says:

Nokia phi is sexy and WP8 is very attractive.

  7. viktor von d. says:

the small tiles look like shit

    • Dave says:

      1) don’t use them. You can use only large tiles if you want.

      2) I now have 20 rows of tiles on my Lumia 610, and the list is getting a bit long to use an app from the bottom. Small tiles will make the simple app launchers fit more easily (fit 8 in the space of 2 now), and the more interesting tiles bigger.

So, what you mean to say “In my opinion small tiles look like shit, lucky I am not forced to use them”.

As for the topic on hand, the green looks cool :)

    • Paul Grenfell says:

If they were “squircles” i could wear them.. But as is,they are too square man..

      • lordstar says:

Yep I lean more towards the squircle look. The square tiles are…… Too boxy. Haha though I understand that those tiles really represent microsoft now, they even changed their logo to emphasize the tiles. I hope the majority of the market would find the ui attractive. For Nokia’s sake. I’m hoping microsoft would give Nokia some privilege with alternating some of the ui elements but still retaining the functionality of the live tiles. I want a unique nokia experience when using a lumia.. I doubt that this will happen though

    • Viipottaja says:

IMO, not all of them. The simple ones look quite nice to me, actually, and provide “punctuation” and “rhythm” to the layout of the screen.

  8. noki says:

IMO the UI is looking very very messy.

    • poiman says:

Sure, but you can organize it the way you want, so what’s messy for a person might not be for someone else. The same happens on Android or Symbian, some people just have a bunch of icons and widgets in the main screen, others have it more organized and less confusing. It’s the good thing about the OSs that give you options, unlike the iOS.

    • Tech says:

try before judge, the UI actually Looking nice and beauty
i think you never try lumia or other windowsphone handset beforre :)
now i just hope we can changes the backround with an image not just black or white like on windows 8 ;)

      • noki says:

Well I have tried several times wp7 didn’t liked it much, (boring and unbalanced in front screen) but I’m surprised to know that you have tried wp8 already…
Maybe you should practice what you preach no?

  9. Tech says:

    No Black?
Hmm the red one is damn sexy
    i hope it’s not overprice :)

  10. Yemi says:

I want one of these phones. I still prefer the cyan. White or black might be good enough for me.
My only concern is this: will Nokia put a pentaband radio (with Tmobile USA 3G bands) in the international version of this phone like the N9? I like to buy my phones unlocked and I hope this is the case.

There’s a rumor on Tmonews that states there is a lumina 900 coming to Tmobile but with better screen and curved glass. Does this mean the new Nokia phones have 4.3 inch and 4.7 inch screens?

  11. winmetro says:

    Blue Lumia forever <3

  12. Sefriol says:

    I want that BananaWP8Pureview NOW.

  13. twig says:

Are we sure phi is the big one? Wouldn’t Atlas be the biggest?

    • Janne says:

I still think those 4.65″ Phi and this device rendered here may be two different devices. This may be the 4-4.3″ Arrow.

But for some reason nobody is posting the disclaimer on the blogosphere, no matter how much I or others shout about it. :) They just keep saying this is the 4.65″ Phi, even when it may not be.

Well, maybe they know something I don’t. But I’m still thinking this device may also be the Arrow or some other device, and factually a smaller than 4.65″ device.

I haven’t seen any rumor directly connecting the 4.65″ Phi rumor with the photographed devices. Some blogs just assumed it, jumped to conclusions and rest followed the same trend.

I’m still thinking this may be the mid-range Lumia 800 replacement, not the Lumia 900 replacement.

      • Janne says:

Just to clarify: It may also be the Phi, but I’d just wish we’d keep an open mind because while the 4.65″ Phi rumors themselves may be (probably are?) correct, it doesn’t necessarily mean this device is the 4.65″ Phi. It may be, but it also may be the smaller version.

      • cocacola75 says:

I actually have spoked with the guy who made this render (he is a writter on http://nokia-touch.fr) and I told him to be careful to not spread rumors like in the other blogs, and he simply told me (in french) :

“I made my own measures and the patent’s drawing shares the same size of the 900, LiveSide said these were final drawings, so in conclusion this is Phi” No comment.

The question is : Why the heck people want to deliberately spread and feed rumors like that ?

        • Janne says:

Maybe some blogs are already sitting on verifiable but not yet to be released information, I guess that is a possibility. But I also think this is a bit of a rolling ball effect, someone pushed the ball rolling and everyone is following suit.

No matter how much I measure, I can’t measure those photos or patent designs to support the 4.65″ screen theory. I do acknowledge the patent designs may be outdated and the photos are so blurry that it is hard to tell.

So, I’d call this one a maybe – but I think a blog or media keeping an open mind should post the disclaimer. I’m surprised none of them are. Maybe they know something I don’t.

          • Aliqudsi says:

So do you guys think it’s smaller than 4.65 or larger?
The only reason i posted the rumored size is because it was leaked multiple times, it’s the theory that holds the most water (then again I did post a disclaimer)

approximately 4.65” if the rumors are to be trusted

            • CambO says:

My measures give me a screen size of 4.5″ with 15:9 ratio.

            • cocacola75 says:

We have to take it from the begining : Nowhere the “Phi” name is mentioned in the patent document. If we are assuming the Phi is the “big flagship”, what are our proofs ? None, we only have a picture of a 900-esque device and a design patent similar to it.

So we should stop saying “Phi, Phi, it is Phi, Phi down there” only because a Blog said it.

Maybe “Atlas” is the big one ? Who knows ?

Look a this device, can the Average Joe make the difference between this one and the 900 ? I don’t think so. People won’t be excited by a clone device.

The “big flagship” has to be different, disruptive.

To answer your question, Janne and others took some measures, the device in the patent appears to be smaller than the 900. Maybe an “updated” (NFC, FFC, etc) 800/900 version for those who can’t affort the big one ?

Do not forget that ElMur is not a man which we can trust.

              Aliqudsi do you agree ?

              • poiman says:

Actually the Average Joe doesn’t care. The iPhone4S broke sales records and it is exactly the same as the iPhone4.

                • cocacola75 says:

This is exactly the point. The Average Joe knows when a new iPhone is out. Apple can make identical phones even during 10 years and still they will sell like hot cakes. Nokia just can’t.

Lumia is not recognized enough. People saw the 800/900 everywhere, if they went in love with it, they would all bought it, but this didn’t happened. So if Nokia make an identical phone, people will walk in front of it and say “still this phone from 2011 ? Odd”. They could even watch the TV ad and think it features the same phone as the previous adds, 800, 900, that’s just confusing numbers in people’s mind.

That’s why the phone has to be different.

                  • Mazze says:

I didn’t buy the 800 simply for a lack of features like NFC and a decent camera. I also didn’t trust the first version of Windows Phone, which now turned out to be a good idea as the kernel is being entirely replaced and new apps developed for Windows Phone 8 lack backwards-compatiblity.

Having said that, I’d buy an 800 with Windows Phone 8, NFC and a decent camera (at least matching the N8′s camera quality). I think the design is absolutely perfect and while it certainly could be even more fine-tuned here and there I’m already very pleased with the way it has been implemented in the 800.

As for the screen size, I simply don’t like big phones that barely fit in your pocket and that can’t be used one-handed. For me the 800 dimensions are the max to go with. If I wanted a bigger screen, I’d rather buy myself a tablet.

            • Yemi says:

I will like to think this scenario in my head:
There will probably be a an upgraded lumina 900 with curved glass to keep it from being mistaken as lumia 900. This is the leak we keep seeing.

As for the second Nokia phone with bigger screen, I really think it has not being leaked yet. It’s probably under wraps till September 9. The exclusive Nokia AT&T Nokia phone will most likely have a bigger screen than the lumia 900 just to differentiate it.

I also expect Nokia to use the pureview label (lets call it pureview lite) on these new lumias even though the real pureview won’t come till spring next year.

              • Janne says:

I also think that is possible.

Of course it is also possible Nokia just releases this in the high-end and something resembling, say, Lumia 610 in the mid-range (remember the other display component that leaked with a 4.3″ screen that someone said was a canned proto)… All these are possibilities.

Personally I’m still keeping an open mind about what the Phi will look like.

            • Janne says:

In two past threads on the topic I have provided my measurements why I think this device may be in the 4.3″ screen range (or less) rather than 4.7″. At the very least many of the blogs showing scalings of this device, the design patents and the screen component have scaled them wildly differently – one even scaling it to be both bigger (the photo) and smaller (just the screen component) than a Lumia 900 and 800.

I have also provided my rationale that while “Phi” may be 4.7″, I believe in that rumor, nowhere has it really been confirmed the photographed device *is* Phi. It might be Arrow, it might be Atlas. Where does the info actually come from that this is Phi? It might one of the other devices.

However, it *can* be Phi! It is a distinct possibility. But I’d prefer if the blogosphere would at least point out why they feel this is Phi, or the possibility it might not be, rather than just keep repeating this is Phi. Or maybe I missed the rumor that linked the photos and the spec-rumors? I think some blog just jumped the gun and everyone is repeating that.

Sure, this may be Phi we are looking at here, but my measurements have always come short of the 4.7″ – if the buttons, the connectors, the Nokia logo are anything to go by. But because the design patent may be old or inaccurate and the photos are blurry, maybe my measurements are wrong. That too is possible.

  14. Sanprime says:

    Where is black?

  15. optom says:

4G logo…. Everything Everywhere (Tmobile-Orange collaboration) rolling out 4G early September….. Nokia world 5th September.
    Exciting times….

  16. Doffen says:

Although the physical design of the phone is important it would be more interesting if somebody could leak the features and functionality Nokia has put in to the next generation of Lumias. I am afraid that they have considered the wishes of the US carriers first, i.e. all file transfer through a clunky method or eating from your data plan.

I think Nokia should surprise with features such as dual SIM on the low end models and selected high end models.

In any case Nokia should ensure that they have a screen size range that satisfies most peoples wishes. E.g. 3.5, 4, 4.5 and 5″ with high, mid and low end hard ware at as many sizes as economically feasible.

  17. dss says:

I don’t expect anything exciting really. We know the platform, 720p screens on dual core Qualcomms + 1gig of ram and adreno GPU-s.. so there won’t be any surprises there.

We also know that there won’t be PureView pro phones, so the imaging will be mostly talk, no results.

Its all about design and materials, and if they fail to deliver something impressive there.. not looking good for them at all.

  18. JG says:

WHITE! Would look so nice beside my macho white 808 PureView.

  19. cocacola75 says:

    @Aliqudsi :

PLEASE mention that this render has been MADE by Camb0 !! A lot of people are actually thinking that it’s an official picture from Nokia and blogs are following !! There’s a huge misinterpretation here !
