Viber Coming to S40 & Symbian + HD Video Calling for WP

| August 28, 2012 | 43 Replies

Viber is now arriving on Series 40, Symbian and Bada, hits 100 million users

Viber, a VOIP for chat, pictures and video that’s a popular alternative to Skype has officially announced that they’re working on a version for Symbian as well as S40. Also announced is an upcoming update to Viber for WP that will bring support for 720p Video Calling (currently no video calls are supported for WP  in the current version of Viber- not even Non-HD). In case you’re wondering the Lumia 900 doesn’t support 720p out the front, but hopefully that’ll all change in the next iteration come next week.

Thanks for the tip KF

I know this isn’t Viber-related but I just need to post this somewhere many non-9gaggers would see.

Has Apple really ever invented anything?

    Why no N9 ?

  8. DKM says:

If Viber brings in Video calling support to atleast Symbian 3 devices, then its time to ditch SKYPE.

Great to see S40 getting more app support from developers! Perhaps Nokia made the right call (!) after all.

I’m starting to think that too!

    • gordonH says:

developers supporting s40 because Nokia supports s40
developers supporting WP because Nokia supports WP

      Now fill in the blanks
developers supporting __ because Nokia supports __

To get developers attention and support an OS has to properly supported and pushed by a major OEM, not the other way round.

I think this is fake. viber is only supports voice and text messaging and there is no support for video calling even for android and ios.

    something is wrong here.

  15. hhh says:

    Viber is awesome!

It’ll be pretty great if they release it for Symbian, it’s a dead platform but it still has millions upon millions of users.

    • deep space bar says:

it wouldn’t have been dead if nokia pushed more support for symbian :/ look how long viber got to symbian :/

  19. jiggi says:

why i cant download viber on nokia x2-01 huuh

  20. There are only a few models that are supported for Symbian OS. Of the all listed in the Ovi store only about 2% actually support Viber.
