All will be revealed…(Nokia/MS teaser in NY?)

| September 4, 2012 | 25 Replies

I saw this picture posted by Muerte who says this was taken near where Nokia and Microsoft are holding their event tomorrow.

It says “All will be revealed” the exact same thing Dave Trevaskus noted yesterday.

The link is just to a Flickr URL. I’m not sure how to get to the uploader

So while you are walking and listening to music, you start to receive annoying voice adverts πŸ˜‰

I get the point that there is market for location based advertising. They will have tough fight with google, who working on for example recoqnizing items on video. Nokia has to get similar tech to their camera software to be able to compete. For example, Id like to know discounts for a specific product near my physical location.

Btw. interesting to think about the consequences of this kind of tech. In some sense the physical stores will lose a lot of their location based competitive advantage, if one gets to easily compare the price levels.

why your profile name is “death” in spanish mi amigo?

pureview or puremarketing ? That is the question..

Just looked at the 920 again.. soo much wasted space under the screen.. oh harmattan, where are you!?

OK, good that you provided this. I read this information from a different forum, so I haven’t been in NY myself and can’t confirm the authenticity πŸ™‚

Nevertheless, it is an interesting coincidence…

All will be revealed!… if you have a good camera with good optics and a pinch of pureview, you might reveal more the the competition. πŸ™‚

Also the picture seems to be taken at nighttime, with longexposure. The person walking by is blured, in what seems to be more than one frame. so i speculate. Special nightmode shot, with longexposure and multiply images combined to one. eg. take 3 pictures with long exposure, and combine them into one oversampled pureview picture.

If this is the lowlight performence of the new “snapper”, i think were in for something good.

also one the video front. 8mpix would be enough for 720p pureview magic, to create a perfect image, or the extra pixels might be used for motion compensation “Puremotion HD”.

    yous my thoughts on this.

    • dss

8Mpix sensor is not enough for any of it.

Oversample down to what, 1Mpix ? That would be interesting..

For night shots you need bigger pixels, so that they can “collect” more light/information.. otherwise you end up with a noise mess.

The 808 works around the problem by combining 5-7 pixels into one.. The results speak for themselves:

      • labodilsen

1 mpix is enough to make 720p video!.. so yes oversampling 8mpix down to 720p video, would give 7-8 times oversampling in video.. but would require speciel hardware as the 808 have. but maybe put to better use by doing antishake measures instead.

nightshots with long exposure also collects more light, and if you take 3 pictures with longexposure and combine them to get rid of any noise?.. yes it would take longer, for this type of oversampling, but not imposible.

even the new samsung Galaxy camera have a lowlight mode, where it takes 3 pictures and combine them to one.

The latest teaser video in the comments is obviously about “[in WP8] we’ll do location like no other” commentary from Nokia. I expect tighter integration of location, social and advertising as well as the obvious mapping, directions, traffic and the like.

  • Andrew_b

This video is promoting ‘location aware’ services. The phone is also ‘reading’ the message to her by voice because she is wearing headphones and doesn’t look at her phone while the ‘shoes’ message pops up. Perhaps Nokia have found a way of having GPS active without sucking the battery dry in a few hours? Otherwise, all this ‘where’ stuff is fairly academic if you want the battery to last all day.

Is the proportion of the frame revealing something? It looks like this 7,5″ tablet of My Dream Nokia.

I took this photo, over a year ago. It was a teaser poster for a burlesque show at a theatre in London’s West End. Nothing to do with Nokia. The photo was taken with a Canon G10 camera on an ISO 320 setting (for low light).
