More Nokia Cheekiness, Shuttling Reporters TO Motorola Event in Branded bus
In case you’ve forgotten the “Main Event of the Day” hasn’t even started yet, and as you can expect some Phone companies (COUGH HTC COUGH) try to rain on others parades by having buses shuttle reporters Away from their competitors events towards their own. Apparently Nokia are a bit more self secure, and alot more cheeky; offering to shuttle reporters to the Motorola event that starts in a couple Hours in the bus above.
All I know is that I want that T-shirt.

@ali do you buy all above mentioned phones or nokia gifted???????
I think Ali bought his N8/N9/808 and he won a Nokia Lumia 800 in a competition.
Yup
Also I want that shirt too. I’ve been asking Nokia for a Nokia branded shirt for ages. Even used ones by the demo staff. grr.
Hhaah I got two WP ones, but No nokia ones. I want the Lumia Amazing Everyday tshirts.
I’ll take the guy whilst he’s wearing that t-shirt ;0)
They should first pack their flagship device with their best stuff and then start being cheeky. I can remember several times, when the bloggers have been crying how Nokia hasnt put their pest gears in one device with N95 being the exception. And they still dont.
True.
The 920 is nice, but it is still NOT a flagship to me.
its close, actualy have a lot of hardware improvement. by the next time i think we will se the next nokia jugernaut, waterprof included.
I believe that also, next Spring.
next, next, always next…
will we see something being the king ‘now’?
nah. this is a flagship. the other like 808 are niche devices. they will never appeal to the masses, just to tech and photography enthusiasts
Fair enough. I’ll get one to use until a true 808 killer is released. I can’t wait to see PureView phase 1&2 and whatever else Nokia can throw on it, on one device.
It is a flagship Jay…
920 Definitely will be the best WP8 phone. ATIV S already looks like a joke to me.
i’m a professional Cinematographer and i bet my ass that this phone definitely deserves the PureView moniker. When comparisons come out you’ll know that you are unbeatable with Lumia 920.
but am not sure if people will ever understand the true innovation put in by Nokia. I’ll be damned if consumers buy based on numbers
Not true.
They put everything possible in that package. Bigger screen I would have liked, but there is a point about the size being comfortable or not.
With these phones they are making the point that when you buy a phone you don`t need hard/jelly cover for it. Just pick the one you like and that`s it.
In all aspects besides screen size I cannot see why this phone doesn`t beat what is currently or will be out there.
In case you do please do share it ?
Add in a microSD slot, microHDMI, and all of the other bits that are in Symbian which they are porting/bringing to WP8 and then it’ll be the ultimate king phone
AGREE!!!
That being said… let me just copy and paste my comment from the http://mynokiablog.com/2012/09/05/gallery-hands-on-with-lumia-920-820/ posted earlier by Ali.

There’s even more stuff than you mentioned missing, but I’m not even going to point it out…
Anyway, it just always feels like Nokia’s flagships and high-end devices are coming out underpowered, at least compared to the competition.. It makes it look like Nokia is trying to save money on the hardware (GPU/mainboard/CPU) used in their devices by buying outdated mid-range hardware which the manufactures probably sell cheaper just to sell out all the remaining stock of the old stuff (since they have new tech/faster quad-core CPU’s/GPU available already), then Nokia Stuffs it in a nice new designed case, with some flashy colors and new names like pureview and puremotion (whats next? PureMaps? :p haha) and call it the new High end Nokia flagship, and sells it at same/higher price of the current market leaders (so, mid-range outdated hardware at the same/higher price than the highest speced devices out there)… How does Nokia expect to make a come back like this? Against Apple and Sammysung (which ALMOST always have the highest available specs in their high-end devices), yeah right…
So… Nokia, stop being so CHEAP, and get the highest available hardware specs in your devices (at least in your high-end flagship devices)!!! And yeah, I know maybe the device’s current specs are enough for the device to run smoothly and do everything it is supposed to do, but what if a HD game comes out that requires better spces, or an OS update that could use better specs hardware? Them Lumias are going to miss out on that…
If you take a look back, ever since (or maybe before) the N97, all Nokia phones were underpowered hardware wise, but but priced as high or higher than the competion’s phones, the N8 was ok, but clearly underpowered (except for the GPU), and don’t give that symbian doesn’t require high specs bullcrap cause we all have seen how much better symbian runs on the 700/701/808, so that was just an excuse for Nokia to call and sell mid-range devices at high end prices.
So once again, NOKIA, stop being so CHEAP, listen to your customers (that want usb otg, HDMI/AV out, and microSD slot and etc…), and live up to your promises of blowing off our minds!!! Make a FU***NG come back!!!
cheers everyone!!!
peace and out…
You do not seem to understand the whole function of smartphones and what Nokia does to serve the customers better. Sorry for crushing your understanding of high-end smartphone but you are totally mislead by the public advertisement. You are telling that Dual-Core 1,5 ghz is outdated? Please tell me, what apps or games require quad-core right now? You are also telling that it must be there if new HD games are to appear. First of all, you never get the same HD game experience in 4,5″ smartphone than you would by playing a console with 60″ HD screen (I mean that it is not about the resolution but the pixels per inch!). Secondly, it is not about the processor power since there is not good enough 3D accelerator in mobiles to run a real HD games. And if there is, MS will be first to support them with DirectX and Havoc support. But if you meant HD games such as Angry Birds I will guarantee you that the processor power will not be the issue in dual core 1,5Ghz.
Nokia is forwarding their capacity to improve bottle necks in USER EXPERIENCE. Nokia has improved critical parts in Lumia 920 that have value for users (i.e. Camera OIS, wireless charging, super sensitive touch screen, City Lens, gaming). These are all functions or “specs” that increase the customer value. These are functions that you actually experience in everyday use. Nokia does not offer specs, they offer experience.
Hey, I get your point, agree with it, and actually feel the same way, but it’s not me that Nokia needs to convince or impress, I’ve been a Nokia user for over 10 years now, and know what Nokia is about, I currently own a N8 and N9, so I’m not exactly a tech beast freak, but a lot of people out there aren’t.
Most of us here are long time Nokia owners, and know Nokia’s strenghts and what it has to offer, but a lot of the regular public out there don’t know either Nokia or Windows phone, they know apple and iOS and and Sammy and android though, and with other ignorant people around them saying how apple and sammy make the best QUAD CORE phones and ignorant sales people advising quad core phones cause they’re “faster”, people are not going to look twice at an unkown brand with an unknown OS with inferior specs for the same or higher price… You get my point now?
Plus, mobile tech and industry evolves as fast or faster than computers now, and software only evolves as fast as hardware allows it to, if developers have platforms with higher and more powerful specs to develop to, they will develop software and games that can use it, that’s how it works, so if a powerful multi-platform game or app that requires a more powerful GPU than adreno 225 (L920) or quad-core, the Nokia flagship would be left out unless they made a different version for it, and I know that is a long shot, but technology moves fast, and powerful games/apps require powerfull specs/hardware.
Plus, if Nokia is to make a full comeback and go back to the top, it needs to impress all crouds and not just their regular customers, and for that, at least one of their devices (the flagship) should have the highest available specs so that it’s ready to take on the “spec beasts” hands down, backed up with quality and innovative sofrware, innovative hardware (PureView sonsor) high quality/innovative design and quality build, YES, that is hands down a device ANYONE would consider, even people that don’t know Nokia or WP.
You know, there’s a reason why Sammysung is No.1 now, and that is becaus they’re ruthless, they have all sor of ranges devices, all OSes, all low, mid and high specs, they got it all, and even though they don’t create or innovate that much, they copy whats popular, have a solid ecosystem and a lot of apps, so that brings people to them.
Also, just before Nokia presented they’re phone, Samsung sneaked and presented theirs, of course it was a joke ATIV S has nothing on Lumia (specially 920), so the joke was on them, but hey, it’s out there, people know about it… They do whatever it takes, that’s why they’re No.1. And Nokia needs to be ready to fight at all levels, and get into people’s minds, whether it is with software/hardware/technology/ innovation (Pureview) wise, or whether it is specs wise, or whether there is variety/ecosystem wise (apps). Nokia is the trie and No.1 WP manufacturer already, but lets face it, WP market share is too small, they need to get to the minds of the android an iOS users, and show then another option, but for that they need to compete at all levels like I mentioned above. I rest my case.
one last thing, with that attitude all you crushed was your own ignorance and credibility, if any, you just assumed I didn’t know anything about what I was saying and ignored what I might know. But a lot of people buy a phone just like many buy their cars, “what has the biggest engine, with the most horse power, they don’t care about safety or gas consumption, and in phones the same, “which one has the best processor, biggest screen and most apps”?
That’s reality, that’s the market, and Nokia needs to please them all, not just us.
No offence, this was just a friendly heads up.
cheers.
What more can you ask for?
Plus Windows Phone 8 is yet to be completely out. I think at least the 920 is a decent enough combo for an “almost there” flagship phone. Remember, they are still on thin ice. They cannot be as bold as they would be. I personally think this one is a keeper and a lotta people would be buying this one. Be happy for Nokia… Be Happy!!
You are joking, right? That new Razor has UGLY UI, washing machine, flying lights and snake skin. Thats all they bring in. Then they call it days main event!
WTS Some icons for googlerolla fanboys (in case they didin’t have enough of those -90 retro stuff).
This is hilarious man!!! This company does have a sense of humor. This was the best shot of the day for me
Indeed. I like this new funny side of nokia.
It’s cute, but it’s really not funny, considering their presentation today was underwhelming, and that shares have gone down by 14%.
All that taunting leading up to this event, and now this…
And, for what? A company that can’t properly market and describe its own products? A company that seems to consistently disappoint by not making previously standard features standard.
Where’s USB-OTG? Where’s the FM transmitter? What happened to including ALL the 3G frequencies in the radio?
Seriously, what the ****, Nok?
Marko Ahtisaari is somewhere in a bar in Finland, probably on his third double-whiskey.
After reading some of the first impressions and details, I’ll admit I overreacted. I would’ve liked USB-OTG and an FM Transmitter and full 3G, but I must admit, I’m very impressed by the camera.
Let’s hope for the best and see what happens.
Shares can’t fall any further, right? Right?!
I probably wouldn’t need to change the L900 till the real flagship appears with the highlight of 41MP BSI sensor with OIS appears. Probably something in Cyan.
but
” Tim Stevens 7:33 PM
And, the RAZR M as well, of course. It’ll be just $99 and is available for pre-order today, ships next week! “
ok, I am being optimistic here but there might be something still coming…
No I think that’s it.
i can imagine the driver parking that big blue nokia bus outside the convention centre of the motorola “show”… just epic.
Motorola’s ‘Main Event’ was a dismal failure…
Nokia stole the thunder!
Yeah maybe….But all the hype around Nokia this last few weeks… hasn’t been properly rewarded…. I was expecting at least a little more…
Some are satisfied though…
Cheers!
