Re-Watch Nokia World Keynote Event + #UnleashMyNokiaPhones Live Commentary Stream

I seriously can’t get over how beautiful that screen is!

In case you missed it, or just feel like reliving the event here’s the video of the joint hangout between the MyNokiaBlog team (Me + Michael) with the UleashThePhones team (Alvin + Yash). Unfortunately at first the stream was only working for Michael so we were relying on his commentary, then we got the audio and screenshare running along with our occasional input on the announcements.

Personally I must say I hated when Joe from WP took the stage, he had nothing useful to add and just went on and on and on about customizing the homescreen for close to 10 minutes, if not more. Kevin Shields however was great in presenting and showed true enthusiasm about the device in his hands, he was able to convey the science behind it well enough without the risk of boring people. He also didn’t freak out when the feed died on him and people were’t able to see his screen, he just worked it out and carried on. Personally I think he had the most composure of the lot, (Jo Harlow wasn’t too bad either).

Anyone have a link for the mini video of the phones components zooming together?

    Dimensions: 130.3 x 10.7 x 10.7 mm, 99 cc(seems big for a 4.5″ screen)
Weight: 185 g(and people call 808 super heavy..!!!)
Display Type: IPS TFT (at least an amoled was expected)

Except the above disadvantages, the Lumia 920 is absolutely stunning.

      my bad. it’s 130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm

i wouldn’t call the lack of amoled a flaw. let’s see it in action first. bu i am surprised indeed they didn’t used it. and yeah.heavy device

Actually im very happy about taking this route. IPS LCDs are far better than Amoleds and you’ll see it too.

amoleds suffer from a lot of artifacts. In case you wanna learn more please do google it. I really prayed for this flagship to have a HD LCD and voila here it is and im super happy :)

they booth have advantages and disadvantages, IPS is great perfect all my work screens are IPS, but some Amoleds do give brighter colors and more readability in sunlight. and way better blacks, given a choice for a phone screen between an IPS and an amoled (non pentile) I would probably go for the amoled.

IPS LCD is usually better than AMOLED, in terms of pure image quality. IPS is used on all high-end monitors, although nowadays there’s also cheap IPS variants available. These cheap ones usually have slow response times which results in ghosting.

Wooooh! Still have a hangover after the announcement! I hope I could get back to my normal life and stop thinking and obsessing about the Lumia 920 with every breath I take.

I just had my PureView 2 months ago but now I’m thinking of selling this pristine 808 when the 920 reaches the Philippines.

I need this phone like water, like breath, like rain.

“And I can’t turn back now ‘cos you’ve brought me too far I need you like water, like breath, like rain!”

I saw the last 5 minutes of Shields and thought his communication was poor – falling over his sentences & significantly worse than Elop. I guess it was only a bit of his slot but if that was the best then I’m glad the stream never started for me. The Verge Joe must have been dreadful, and Jo Harlow is never amazing to listen to – which might be the reason most of it was leaked prior!
