WinP.cn via WMPU reports that China Mobile, China’s largest carrier at 655 million subscribers (and the largest in the world by subscriber) will be getting the Nokia Lumia 920. This is great news as the previous Lumias had not made it to that network. This is expected to be a TD-SCDMA version.

    Yayyyyyy! :)

  2. pig_benis says:

even if lumia get only half of that subscribers.,it stills lots..

  3. Keith too says:

Major news in Nokia’s biggest Lumia market.

  4. mj says:

So that destroys one of Tomi Ahonen’s points about Elop not knowing the key to success in the mobile market.

    • Joris Bos says:

Haha, exactly. I hope Elop shows everybody wrong and proves Nokia can bounce back. Looking at this exclusive deals stuff, where providers will really push the product, it might happen guys. It just might happen.

  5. viipottaja says:

and they don’t even have the iPhone and may not get it for a while, so their promo spend for the 920 is likely to be sizable! Good news for Nokia indeed!

  6. oakpacific says:

They got the iPhone, but the thing is, even if only 0.5% of their subscribers buy the Lumia 920, the number is going to be more than 3 million…

  7. rinslowe says:

Oh well, I prefer China Unicom….

Not surprised China Mobile scores this one….Put their big state owned foot down and say mine!

  8. rinslowe says:

But ultimately isn’t a thing, I’ll buy mine in HK for FB, Twitter and Skype…(via VPN, except skype…I found after modding skype to my China N9, it works just fine).

Unless MS puts their foot down count on all the above being missed on China Mobile versions and China version 920′s/800′s in general.

    • senshi says:

The Chinese WP phones have Baidu and Weibo integration instead to cater to the local market, I’m not sure how that makes MS not doing anything there.

  9. Law says:

Nice, I hope many get the lumia 920, to boost the windows 8 platform.
Also everyone you gotta see this, this only proves the point even further, many people do not even know what phone they buy, they just do it cause they are brainwashed it seems. lol

That ‘new’ iPhone5 video completely cracks me up. My kids are gonna love this when they get home from school.

      Thanks for sharing.

  10. toy says:

CM’s 3G/4G network follows TDD regulation, which is not supported by iPhone 3GS/4/5. So this is a good news for both Nokia and CM.

I hope it also supports the coming 4G tech for CM (TD-LTE).

  11. dss says:

WP’s market share just went up by about 2%.

  12. manu says:

thats good news.i hope L920 sells 3million units a quarter

  13. ms.nokia says:

more good news for nokia, now i just hope they can manufacture the lumia in large quantities and fast !!

  14. Waqas Ahmad Khan says:

Will this be available for China Mobile subscribers in Pakistan?

  15. JGrove303 says:

Hot damn! This is some serious business. LUMIA aftermarket is gonna be huge

  16. MAERSK says:

Is this the reason why the Nokia stock went up?

  17. Peter L says:

The operator boycott that Tomi Ahonen preaches of is in full effect it seems.

  18. qromodynmc says:

also the chinese company,Goophone said they patented iphone 5′s design and they will sue if apple sells iphone in china

  19. aikon171 says:

not many chinese people use CMCC’s TD-HSPA network

  20. Guest says:

“The carrier said subscribers in March rose to 667.20 million, more than twice the population of the United States, including 59.56 million 3G subscribers.”

  21. Canicalia Lamentoqua says:

hmmm but Lumia is quite weak for competitive China market with all those troubles about windows unfortunately. Previous Lumias has shown limitations already. In many aspects like quality, system, weak software (but in great numbers but quite a few interesting) languages, only MS services allowed etc.etc. In my opinion this is only marketing noise. Product is at is, all can see.
