Nokia Store reaches 16 Million daily downloads + Nokia Innovation Centre to be built in Beijing?

According to ChinaTechNews, Nokia will be building an ‘experience innovation centre’ aimed at providing platform for ‘Internet entrepreneurial solutions’ in Beijing. This would serve developers, entrepreneurs as well as supposedly promote building of a “world-class software ecological park”.

“Nokia’s experience innovation center plans to select 3,000 innovations, support 300 start-up companies, and promote the IPO of 30 innovative companies.”

The first phase is apparently already underway and the second phase is under construction, expected to be completed by 2013.

A 1,300% growth of WP applications to 100,000 is mentioned but more interesting is the report that he most interesting bit Nokia Store for apps has apparently increased again to 16 Million daily downloads – (Asha’s as the driving force) with accumulated downloads at 6 billion.

Nokia’s application store now has a daily download volume of 16 million and the accumulated downloads have reached six billion. I can’t seem to find info from Nokia. The last Nokia Store updates info I can find was back in July, when it reached 15M/Day

http://mynokiablog.com/2012/07/03/nokia-store-reaches-15-million-daily-downloads-5-4billionyear-rate-120000-apps/

At the time there were 5 billion cumulative downloads. In less than two months, there’s a whole billion more downloads. At 16m/day, that’s a rate of about 5.84B/year.

but but…. nokia is failing and near bankruptcy and they don’t have anymore money cause they don’t sell enough phones and no one will buy asha phones cause they are too expensive, so how can s40 asha apps still be downloaded in such high numbers.

but but… nokia is failing and near bankruptcy and they don’t have ecosystems anymore cause they don’t sell phones and no one will buy phones with their OS because it is too ugly and they don’t know hot to program, so how can non-wp downloads be in such high numbers.

How about they are assumed just as better then others? And how about still downloaded Symbian and MeeGo software? And how about that just Ashas looking like MeeGo are generating significant incomes?

btw.: I have just read brilliant term – “Elopocalipse”, and just looking for a definition, what on earth that could be?

Any idea on the download breakdown by OS?

I was just talking to a dear friend who happen to be very creative person, working on apps for iOS and Android. He is not a developer but work with developers. Hardcore Nokia fan and user, currently using E6 I believe.

And he doesn’t know Nokia has an app store! He was shocked when I told him about that. He is not in Pakistan right now, he was on tour to Japan and China and staying somewhere in between. I asked him to look for 3rd growing app system which is Nokia+Microsoft and for that get 920.

But Imagine that, a full time Nokia user doesn’t know about their apps and store link. How could this?

    • Trexus says:

If he’s a hard-core Nokia fan & a heavy E6 user as you say, then there’s no chance he wouldn’t know about the Store, makes zero sense.

      • FireDragon says:

That really make no sense to me either, It was shocking for me. He is not a tech-guy though. I am waiting for him to return to Pakistan so I could sit and show Nokia app store.

      • FireDragon says:

Actually I think, he is those Nokia hardcore fans and users who are not tech-savy but just regular consumers. My ex-girl was like it. She could bit your head off if you say a single thing against Nokia, she always buy Nokia and nothing else, she couldn’t take a word against Nokia even for a joke but she doesn’t know much of anything else about it.

I made her buy E72 and she used it for very long time yet she didn’t know how to setup her wifi. One of her student set her wifi and some other apps. Yet she was a Java Developer.

Yes, I bang my head too. But these kind of people exist in the same world. :)

      • Cani Lamentoqua says:

Yes there is such a chance, and there are many full-time fans who can be unaware of Nokia store.

Me in this number. Using Nokia for years I have entered to Nokia store for the first time only at 2011 for software for MeeGo at Nokia N9. Before I had no such a need and also I was not aware of this store.

Also I was not aware of Mynokiablog existence.

So there is such a possibility. It was possible as Nokia were selling state of art mobiles – that’s all. They were popular and ALWAYS there were somebody able to help with Symbian and Nokia staff. So why to enter to store which gives false effects when searching?

Also helpful people at forums were easier to ask for help or ask for software download address (I mean pay soft also, I don’t mean any kind of piracy or similar dark-reputation places).

Nokia store still can give false effects. I checked it on my own skin: I have read about one MeeGo soft, link given, when clicked could not connect, when searching via search option: no effects – but the software was there! Only not accessible… Note: it was not closed, forbidden, against Nokia rules or etc. Just search option could not find it.

For this, above, reason it was easier to download it from somewhere else. So, more experienced users, before and now also, were directly pointing non-Nokia-store sources for downloads.

Now after “burning platform” “Elopocalypse” those servers can’t live from commercials anymore or are closing as Nokia has “murdered” it’s own markets, so also developers source of money. Hence those who look for a soft now “must” go to Nokia store.

There is no any mysterious magic. Follow-up of Elop effect.

I hope you do not believe this increase of downloads reflects increase of number of users – statcount says something else.

A motivation for downloading however could be massive discounts for software in Nokia store. This can be a reason.
