Belle FP2 temporarily pulled due to issues

For those wondering what happened to their update to FP2 that began rolling out yesterday, it got pulled as there’s some issue with it:

Hi all,

just a quick heads up. We’ve heard about some issues after the update and now decided to take the update files off our servers until we have investigated the case.

I’ll announce it here once the update is available again, but for the moment please don’t worry if your phone doesn’t get the update.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Yvonne

  1. Nokia Belle FP2 Update is Live…Oh Wait It’s Not | Lowyat.NET | January 29, 2013
  1. Paul Grenfell says:

surprise, surprise.. Although mine is ok. But had to go back to default theme

    • Jay Montano says:

‘Had do’….any particular reason or just preferring the default theme?

      • Paul Grenfell says:

There were some quirks with custom themes. Some icons not showing and browser was freezing whilst loading pages. Read on forums of theme faults, so tried default and all went ok.

    • Muerte says:

I’ve noticed that I’m no longer able to unlock the device by pressing the home/start/whatever button on the phone and then pressing “unlock”, the only way is to unlock it from the side slider button.

Don’t know if it should be like this, or if there is an error…

  2. kornofilo says:

and there comes the update!!! and … its gone.

  3. Paul Grenfell says:

i have downloaded the apac files but i guess no-one wants them?

  4. jollaswipe says:

    disaster

After i updated via PC suite my 808 to FP2 yesterday, Nokia Music did not work & no video editor pro.

Then Nok Music eventually works & I got Video Editor Pro after I re-flashed the latest FW using Phoenix.
(BTW even before Fp2 was released, I flashed the v.0311 firmware to my phone using phoenix because everytime I check for update, PC suite always say my phone already has the latest firmware which is v.0309).

    Steps:

    1. I deleted all the v.0311 related files (which I got from Navifirm before) on this directory:

    C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\rm-807

    2. I copied all the contents of these 2 directories to C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\rm-807.

    a) C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Nokia Suite\NOSSU2\variants\Products\rm-807

    b) C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Nokia Suite\NOSSU2\variants\Production External\Products\rm-807

(The contents of the 2 directories above were downloaded by PC suite itself when I updated my phone to FP2).

    3) I chose “Software Reset” on phoenix.

Nokia Music now works & I also have the Video Editor pro.

But I still don’t have the Microphone icon on Maps search.

  6. JGrove303 says:

Nokia Browser 8.3 on N8-00 Belle Refresh locks up pretty often too. OFW and CFW. Something is quite broken about it.

    • krustylicious says:

My e7 has locked up twice since the ota update to belle refresh, i can’t say much more than that as i woke up to the phone alarm and it was unresponsive ..

  7. Dave says:

Its definitely a mixed update; overall its an improvement, but some irritating changes …

    - long press on an email brings up a large context menu in the middle of the screen rather than the smaller one where you pressed. Much preferred the old design.
    - lock screen notification of having an alarm set has gone!

    • Carbontubby says:

The context menu in the middle of the screen seems to be Qt-specific. I assume the dialog shows a light blue title heading with a dark gray background? Then they could have finally ported the email client UI to Qt :)

      • Dave says:

Nope, no title, just the entries Delete/Mark as unread/Move to folder/Mark.

Does actually look a little better, but coming from the previous look, it doesn’t actually work as well.

  8. vladest says:

there is issue with battery. its eaten too fast

    • Dave says:

Really? I’m not seeing any obvious difference.

Was at a full charge last night, and right now its at 95%. Thats pretty much the same as before.

Just remember to kill off the weather task that is still auto-starting for no particularly good reason.

    • Mapantz says:

I thought so! I Tweeted this yesterday, after a full recharge, i pulled the charger out before i went for a shower, 10 minutes later it was on 89% with nothing open and no connections. I was practically empty this morning and normally i get 48 hours out of my 808. The other problem now is, it keeps saying ‘Sim Registration Failed’ Not happy at all!

  9. burak says:

    yes, skyee looks nice

  10. Weirdfisher says:

Finally a fully usable symbian ,version, and the last one…

  11. Reptile says:

In the meantime, could they please release Belle Refresh for the people that haven’t gotten it yet.. The people that have been waiting for over a month??

  12. stylinred says:

as i mentioned about the leaked fp2 the UIs weren’t loading all the time with the apps and camera only way to resolve was a reboot

    must have the same bugs

  13. monkeyandweasel says:

Anyone want to take a guess at when fp2 will be available again – 1 week, 1 month or longer!?

    Much frustration!

    • shallow ocean shoal says:

It looks like an unmitigated disaster. I’m not a betting man, but if I were, I’d say months.

Who wants to bet it is primarily language variant related stuff that they didn’t bother to test?

    • Paul Grenfell says:

Well after mass sackings and staff prioritised to Lumia updates, does to surprise you? The 808 is one classic phone i will never depart with, but it will also be my last Nokia..
I just hope Rim or Jolla or someone can give me an alternative replacement in the future for the 808.. At the moment , there is just nothing else..not even Windows.

      • shallow ocean shoal says:

Look at the bright side, it’s not as big a failure as Apple Maps! And their new camera has that purple problem too

        • Paul Grenfell says:

Lol, yes.. My son got the IP5, not at all happy with Maps debacle.. He needs it for Business..
I really only have one major problem, and that is the Browser..

  14. scott says:

we have 2 n808. both updated with fp2. one seems to work fine. the other has issues that it did not have before : it cannot hold onto the wifi signal for more than a minute and drops the wifi. it did NOT have this problem before the update to FP2. So I sent a mail and a person from nokia support telephoned (thank you for that)… however, he told me to uninstall & re-install nokia suite (which i did right after the telephone call) and to update the nokia 808 again to FP2 by using the download button in nokia suite software update icon.
    so guess what.
nokia suite says the telephone is up to date. basta. can’t get another shot at the update as he said…. hmmmm….

i did the update to FP2 the first time via wifi. but now that is no longer an option with wifi dropping every 60 seconds…

so, the techy that called (very friendly) gave me false information : un installing reinstalling did not make the update available by “magic” in nokia suite…

i don’t think someone should tell the techys to stop telling people false information – it is frustrating and absolutely DESTROYS consumer confidence and doesn’t help the brand : and that’s what they want at nokia, isn’t it ? they love shooting themselves in the foot perhaps maybe ?

Sooo, I’m still hoping for a solution to the Nokia error that keeps dropping the wifi AFTER the FP2 update.
