Would be very, very surprised if these little beauties didn’t do well in India.

Has anyone had hands on? Wondering how the UI is working…

  2. Lucas Vieira says:

The Asha 311 has superior specs than the Asha 309 , yes?
So… the 311 should be recognized as a smartphone too no?

    • Shaun says:

      I find that puzzling too.

I was tempted with one of these Ashas as a backup phone but they’ve got a lot of features removed that were in previous Ashas and S40. In particular they’ve removed SIP VoIP support.

Even a C3-01 Touch and Type supports VoIP.

Asha 309 is available in the PH in cmkcellphones.com/nokialink.html

I only wish I could show what I saw in half the city (Karachi, Pakistan) the massive advertising and promotion campaign going on for Asha. THey made giant-size ASHA 311, hundreds of them perhaps and stand them against streetlight poles.

The most impressive one I saw was on a round turn, at one of the most prominent place of the city, right infront of a busy shopping mall, next to the only easy-to-access public beach area.

Did you take a picture? Send it to Jay and perhaps he’ll post it! :)

      • FireDragon says:

I wish I could take pictures, no camera and taking out N8 out in public is not very safe around here. It could become matter of life and death, literally :) .

I tried to find on Internet but so far nothing, but will take another round in a day or two.

  5. Emin says:

yo,they started to sell em super swiftly,no after quarter period. It’s interesting and maybe they undastood “trading-after-presentation” thang

  6. aleci says:

No WiFi? A budget phone with no wifi is like not a budget phone at all -_-

  7. manu says:

old nokia strategy too many phones with one or two missing features

    • Viipottaja says:

Is that why their mobile feature phone division sales grew second quarter in a row, in a globally shrinking market? ;)

  8. twig says:

Forget about Android or Apple phones, those are for aapl/goog hedge funds. Why do you want to make them rich by buying their phones? Make yourself rich by buying Nokia products AND buying nok stock. You missed the aapl/goog rise to over $700usd, but now you can become a millionare just by buying Nokia products. Don’t worry about what phone has what. Tell everyone buy Nokia phones AND buy nok and become rich in 5 years. I would say the arguement of android/apple/Nokia/etc becomes rather useless then doesn’t it. A million in one hand or an android? I would hold Nokia/NOK college parties if I were you. You would be their hero in 5 years. If everyone does it there are going to be a lot of wealthy people. It’s too late for the apple/google party. Catch and make the next one with Nokia.

I think Ashas are the only interesting part of Nokia portfolio now, at last for me. I consider them as a replacement when my mobile will technically die.

  10. FireDragon says:

A journalist+anchor+writer friend, currently user/lover/fan of some low-end Galaxy and hardcore Sams(d?)ung fan, owner of iPad (and absolutely hated it), happened to roll his fingers across Lumia 800 I think, (all he remembers is Lumia, what model he doesn’t know, see how consumers’ mind works). He fell in love with its screen and fluidity.

He is considering S3 and asked me if he should go. So far I said just keep your money in pockets and wait a few more months, then see if you like Lumia 920 better then make up your mind.

Smartphone? No 3G,no Wi-Fi,and with that dated dumbass OS? LOL…..Smartphone my ass!
