As October draws to a close we can prepare ourselves for a splash of color in our lives, our source has confirmed that the Lumia 820 will arrive on UK shores next Friday Nov. 2nd  (matching the Suspected US launch date for the 820 & 920); further more the 820 will NOT be exclusive to a single carrier, but instead will be available on “multiple Networks”.

A patterns seems to be emerging with the two devices, where the 820 is available on multiple networks, whilst the 920 will be tied down as an exclusive device; as is with At&t, Rogers Canada and suspectedly Everything Everywhere in the UK.

    Red Lumia 920 here I come…

The 920 is definitely exclusive to EE, this was confirmed to me at the EE 4G launch last month.

    • Henry says:

The correct saying is, for Lumia 920, 4G version is exclusive to EE this year. ;-)

But why would Nokia remove that LTE radio from a chipset and sell it as a 3G version? Makes no sense.

        • Janne says:

LTE is still not that big in many places in Europe. Non-LTE version will be cheaper and might still be a very good choice in many markets. Just like Lumia 900 came as LTE in the U.S. and non-LTE in Europe…

          • Vedhas Patkar says:

India doesn’t have an LTE network in place and specs of the phone show LTE in specs. I don’t think there’d be a non-4G version at all.

            • Janne says:

Well, a representative of Nokia has explicitly said there would be non-LTE versions of the Lumias announced in September.

I guess in theory the person from Nokia was wrong or they come out as variants like the Lumia 810, which is a non-LTE versio of Lumia 820.

But all in all, I wouldn’t be surprised to see cheaper non-LTE versios of Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 in European markets.

Why not on 3 UK? I don’t like Orange or T mobile! They are a rip off! :(

  4. Michael Faro-Tusino says:

It has been the pattern, especially since the 920 is going exclusive on the largest 4G carriers in most of those markets.

  5. Janne says:

For those who don’t know the European LTE situation: There are still many places and operators where LTE isn’t there or is so limited as to not really “there” yet. So non-LTE versions of the new Lumias were both expected and known to happen (Nokia confirmed it around the original September launch). It does make sense in Europe at least.

    • viktor von d. says:

there are on;y 4-5 countries in europe where lte is being used. i live in romania and the lte licenses have just been granted to all operators but they will only offer modems at the end of the year, with new phones coming next year in q1 or q2. not to mention only a few cities will have lte and the prices will be very big, so it’s definetely 3g in most of europe

  6. Shaun says:

It’s extremely rare that a phone is exclusive in the UK to a single carrier.

I don’t think this is a good sign for Nokia if only one carrier is picking up the 920. Then again I don’t think any of the UK carriers picked up the 900 so perhaps 1 is an improvement. ;-)
