WP store allows downloading and manual reinstallation of apps?

This might not be immediately useful for the general public, but Windows Phone Store now apparently allows you to download apps to install later without needing a developer unlocked phone it seems.

The phone might need an SD card though.

I can see this useful for keeping backups, in case those apps disappear from the store. It might also be useful for quick sharing between family/friends. Symbian users have been very familiar with this format.

Regarding reinstallation, automatic back up and restore of apps works really well in a very fuss/effort free reinstallation of all your apps in WP8, so it’s not really necessary for that.

Free apps work fine, paid apps with trials appear as trials for later purchasing. Paid apps without trial can only be installed after purchase. It seems only the latest version will install.
