Whatsapp For Symbian Updated; Brings Chat Backup Option

One of the features I’ve been campaigning for for ages on Whatsapp (no matter the version) is the option to backup your chat history. Even though the latest update to Windows Phone has kinda brought us that option (if you email it to your self); but it seems the Symbian version has pulled ahead with this option getting properly hard-coded into the app. I’m not sure exactly how the history is saved (probably on the phone locally and not on Whatsapp’s servers) but it would be great if it was saved in some sort of text file that could easily be imported onto any new device you pick up.

You can grab the updated .Sis file v2.9.3 (Build 40869) from here

I can’t find the update anywhere, but I know that the older version of whatsapp (2.8.29) I’ve been using for months has had the same ability to back up chat logs, too (Send chat history via mail, bluetooth).

When I click the link above, it takes me to the main whatsapp page (no .sis file).
