Storage Check available in new firmware via store update

| March 16, 2013 | 19 Replies

So as I told you guys yesterday, there was a new Firmware out for the Nokia Lumia 620, 820 & 920.

I was naughty and got the update on my Lumia 820, to be disappointed that I didn’t have any new features (at least visibly). I then got a Store update prompt for some Nokia System Apps. Surprise surprise, it brought Storage Checker. (I think the actual update was for extras+info).

If you’re on the new firmware, and yet to receive the updates, I suggest scanning the codes on this page using Bing Vision.

And while WP8 users will get new features, WP7.8 users will get less features with new updates: 7.10.8862.144 WP 7.8 update removes Google Contacts and Calendar sync
Thanks MS for removing a feature way ahead before its even necessary, leaving your users with you own sync solution that tends to forget some of the contacts from time to time (already happend twice that ~50% of my contacts just disappeared 🙁 )

Since you are having SOOO much trouble, here is the lastest update from reddit.

Sorry for the false alarm, you can still get proper Gmail sync when adding the account trough “advanced setup”.

Just got the update for my Lumia 900 to .144 as well and updated – and STILL I can’t install the Bluetooth Share application…
WTF is wrong with it? I could get the Ringtone Maker with no problem, but the Bluetooth share app is a total mystery, it just decided its not compatible with my Lumia 900 (unlocked unbranded GB version) and its not looking like its going to be fixed soon… 🙁

It does disappear but you can add it by tapping on advanced mail setup and choose activesync option. It works like a charm for me 🙂

  • Nokia is going very good in improving everything on its devices. For the first time in Nokia’s history am I seeing so quick updates. Maybe now Nokia has uncovered its eyes. Sitting on the king’s position usually makes you think far, but you forget the close things. And then someone axes your feet.
Good going Nokia. Now that the Other Storage issue will be gone, every Lumia user will be more happy. More space for installing apps and storing photo/videos 🙂

Thanks for the shout-out to the link to the QR codes i put up, Mike.

  • Clixt

Could someone who downloaded the Storage Check update through the store make a QR code? Make one through your list of downloaded apps (I’m positive it’ll be there)..

    • adrian

Its not actually update i think, but gets activated thru the updated Extras and Info update. Don’t worry, once its in general release to the public,.if there is a separate app i will add it to the list on the Nokia discussions website.

      • Michael Faro-Tusino

No separate app. Just extras+info at least for now

  • Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads
up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in
Opera. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know.
The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon.
