Google co-operates with MS to create a YouTube app for WP
According to The Verge, Google have reportedly announced that they will work closely with Microsoft to bring a “compliant” YouTube client to Windows Phone.
“Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube’s API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks.”
Apparently, MS is going to “replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time”, a Google spokesman told The Verge.
The APIs that Google is allowing MS to use, will reportedly be seeing some functionality from the current iteration removed. Personally, I won’t be updating. I’m still using the version with download support, and ignore the update message on my Lumia 820.
Is this a sign that MS and Google will learn to work together in the future? Or just another example of MS needing to publicly address the issue to see results, like the Google Maps fiasco?
