Confirmation: Windows Flag on Lumia 925 Does Act as a Notification Light (of sorts)
There’s been a fair bit of confusion regarding the Windows/Home button on the Lumia 925, and whether it can act as a notification light or not. Well it seems that it does indeed “breathe” to show off new notifications as seen in the video below; kindly demoed by Ellen on her Lumia 925 with Firmware revision number: 3040.0000.1322.2005:

@AliQudsi @samsabri It was blinking to tell me I have an update and it blinks when charging, if the phone is off. Not yet with SMS or email.

*It’s worth noting that Ellen’s 925 is the 32 Gb version of the device, perhaps that’s worth something?
As confirmed in the tweet and video above the light breathes to indicate charging when the phone is dead, and currently indicates an available “phone update” when the phone is powered on.
Once the phone was updated the flashing light no longer appeared and was not reproducible, so it seems to be dedicated to a sole usage at the moment; hopefully with more to follow.
When you start charging a completely empty battery, the start key flashes until the screen wakes
up and the charging progress is shown.- Lumia 925 user manual
The flashing light can also be spotted in the video below around the 1:20 mark on one of the devices in the background.
