nokia-siriusEarlier we heard that the Nokia tablet will most likely launch alongside the 1520 phablet in Abu Dhabi next month. Now @evleks has  added that the Sirius tablet will be named the Nokia Lumia 2520.

This is interesting for a couple of reasons, mainly that Nokia have decided NOT to create a new family name for their tablets (although it’s likely to be just the one). Instead they’ve combined them under the Lumia family, further diversifying the range of Lumias and building off the slight popularity they’ve gained. Second of all the numbering itself, 2520, is a whole 1000 larger than the expected 1520; but possibly reserving the 2XXX for future tablets (be they Nokia or Microsoft made).

With the Microsoft acquisition there’s still a lot of questions regarding what the new devices would be called; but the more Lumias Nokia push out, the harder it’ll be for MSFT to ditch the branding.

Of course Nokia have previously changed their device brandings at almost last minute, as we saw with the Lumia 1020. Which was once upon a time called the Nokia 909.
