The blogosphere is rife with results from Kantar World Panel which oddly looks super positive about Windows Phone again. This is said to be attributed to Nokia’s sales entirely.

Windows Phone now makes up one in 10 smartphone sales across the five major European markets*, has overtaken iOS in Italy, and is gaining momentum in emerging markets.

*The big five European markets includes UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

Result in the UK shows that in 3 months, it has gone from 4.2 to 11.4%. Note that it was at 12% in August – possibly against new phone launches, particularly the new iPhone.

In Europe it sees WP go to 9.8% from 4.6% three months previously (9.2% in August)

In Italy, WP oddly climbs to 13.7% overtaking iOS despite the launch of the new iPhone at 10.2%. Can it keep it up during October? Italy was at 9.5% last month. Italy has been a bit up and down with WP before.

In USA, it’s now at 4.6% (3% last month). Spain 3.7% in Sept and 2.2%  in August.

There is a slight dip however looking at previous month in these regions

  • France 10.7% Sept, 10.8% Aug
  • Germany 8.5% Sept, 8.8% Aug
  • Australia 9.3% Sept, 6.5% Aug

It seems Italy and Spain’s growth have pushed the EU5 for WP despite the slight declines in France, Germany and UK. Australia is of course not part of that :p.
