Check out this post from BGR where they crown the top Android and WP phones. Actually even iOS since there’s now a ‘choice’ between the 5S and 5C :/.

Before going on to why they chose the 1020, I think it’s awesome that WP is indeed becoming a common consideration now, something of an alternative to Android or iOS.

The 1020 gets so much praise, being more than just a camera phones and considered one of the best smartphones for 2013. It’s always a nice feeling seeing ads for the 1020 in a cinema :D. I remember when Nokia phones were once so popular, it was considered by some to be a burden that they were so ubiquitous, and in the hands of people who didn’t know how to ‘wield’ them properly.

Anywhoo, a very nice set of words about the 1020:

Nokia’s emphasis on cameras in its smartphones as a key point of differentiation dates back nearly a decade (remember how awesome the N90 was?), but never has the company managed to put together a camera phone that even approaches the Lumia 1020.

Good light, bad light, low light or no light, the 1020 takes pictures that are far better than anything we’ve seen from any competitors’ devices. In fact, this is the closest any vendor has ever come to releasing a phone that can replace a wide range of dedicated digital cameras.

The Lumia 1020′s 41-megapixel camera takes remarkably clear photos that can then be zoomed like no other smartphone photos. A bright xenon flash, Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia’s revolutionary proprietary optical image stabilization round things out on the hardware side while Nokia’s leading camera software adds DSLR-like controls that are easily accessible.

But the Lumia 1020 is more than just a camera. The big, bright AMOLED display is absolutely gorgeous and the phone’s smooth polycarbonate case looks and feels great. Performance is just as fluid as we’ve come to expect from Nokia’s Windows Phones and tripping it up while multitasking is next to impossible. It also features all of the great apps and services we’ve come to love on Nokia phones, such as HERE Maps and Nokia’s free navigation app.

The 1020 is hands down the best Windows Phone of 2013 — in fact, it’s one of the best phone’s of the year, period.

The overall winner is given to the 5S. Mainly because of the apps and ecosystem. Funnily enough, BGR finds the gap between iOS to Android as something big enough to top things in favour for the iPhone.
