PureView purists will enjoy this next post as another testament to what Nokia was able to achieve with the Nokia 808 PureView’s stills. Considering the size differences and that the 808 is also meant to be a phone, it is an amazing achievement to hold its own against a DSLR with only Nokia’s own 1020 to contend with. Yes of course, there are pros and cons to a DSLR versus a super camera phone. Here, we’re talking about image quality and the 808 deserves all the praises and more.

Here the 808 is compared against:

  • The Canon EOS 400D, or Digital Rebel XTi  in North America, an entry level DSLR from 2006
  • Panasonic DMC-FT5. Latest reviews from 2013 call this once of the best all rounders. Micro DSLR and one of Panasonic’s most enthusiast focused mirrorless cameras.
  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 – a tank like snapper
