The reviews of Jolla’s first phone have been out for a while. There are positives and potentials but also a few shortcomings, with earlier reviews understanding that the main customer base at the moment aren’t regular joes but enthusiasts.

Some of our readers mentioned that in PhoneArena’s recent review, they weren’t all that impressed, giving it a 2/10 score. They concluded it to be half baked and pricey.

They definitely found Sailfish to be fresh and different.  But it’s not polished and they thought the learning curve was a bit too steep.  Overall there were more cons than pros.

PROS

  • Nice design
  • Usable daytime photos

CONS

  • The phone is too expensive for what it delivers
  • Lack of software availability
  • Android support isn’t reliable
  • Mediocre display
  • OS still has some bugs
  • Gesture-based navigation takes lots of getting used to
  • The “Other half” concept is nothing but a gimmick
