WP 8.1 to Support 1 Minute Background Update Intervals + Hints of WP 8.5

One of the developers who was using the WP 8.1 SDK to develop his app has noticed that one of the new features in the OS is the ability for tiles and apps to update at one minute intervals when running in the background (I believe the minimum in WP 8 is currently 30 minutes). This I believe would apply to apps that DON’T use push notifications which are updated upon retrieval, so it would be most effective for weather apps, battery status and the likes.

Another interesting find by the same developer is a reference to WP 8.5, (see image above) ; where a feature is mentioned to possibly be removed in WP 8.5. Of course that’s probably a long long way down the road, and the naming might change; but it’s likely we’ll see a couple updates between 8.1 and 9.0.
