HTC considering the purchase of Nokia’s Chennai Factory

Since the Nokia-MS deal is due to close on the 27th and the tax disputes likely won’t be resolved regarding the Chennai plant, if left to Nokia then the plant might be put on sale at a later point. If placed for sale to a third party other than Microsoft, it appears that HTC would consider picking up the Chennai Nokia Factory.  This could help HTC explore the Indian market. I’m not sure if this would affect the value of the transaction for Nokia.

I am happy to look into it, because the overall preparation, exploration hinges upon if it will serve consumers better. If that (plant) will do that (service consumers better), then we would be happy to look further into it. - Chialin Chang, HTC Chief Financial Office

Why not MS themselves? Apparently they might as well outsource to China like Apple.

Cheers twig for the heads up!
