Self fix Micro SD scan in WP8.1

A couple of months back, we posted about a MicroSD situation in WP8 where an error with the card would spontaneously occur.

Folks may experience things like settings not opening when severe or photos not saving. When restarting, it would pop up an error saying you need to put the card to let a PC scan and fix it. Until that time, the card would be unusable to protect your data (if you restarted enough, you may bypass this but it could mean rewriting over your data).

The other day the issue cropped back up again, this time I.E. refused to open (used about 75GB ext and internal memory, and saved 6tag pics, took screenshots of exam notes). After a restart, the screenshot below popped up. As mentioned by a reader on the original SD Card issues post, the feature to scan and fix was given in WP8.1. No need to take the card out and connect to PC. I think it suggested doing so to avoid data loss or at least doing some kind of backup. Ideally there wouldn’t be errors but it’s good to be able to fix on the fly.
