Next Chapter of Lumia in Dubai today? Hump lives on in Nokia Lumia 1020 successor? – The Amazing McLaren

Screen Shot 2014-06-10 at 08.41.11A month ago, there was a post that informed about the announcement of the Next chapter of Lumia? Is that specifically for this region or for the whole world?

It could be a number of other devices, but one such we are eagerly awaiting is the Nokia Lumia 1020s successor. It might be a touch too early but more details arose from TheVerge  that suggested the next camera flagship will come touting with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. That beefy unit will sure speed up the imaging on Lumia. Hopefully faster start-up and faster shot to shot time as it processes billions of pixels a second.

On top of this, the Lumia successor features 3D Touch complete with some more UX changes (mix view). Yup, it’s all that one device, Codename McLaren. Perhaps this is why Rubino was quite confident in suggesting that McLaren could finally leapfrog the competition in hardware and software. According to Tom Warren, 3D Touch or Real Motion, despite being integrated with Kinect gestures is something, it’s not Microsoft but Nokia who has developed  this technology over a number years. With the use of the onboard sensors, other additional ‘human’ interactions include answering the phone by putting it to your ear (a bit like motion launch on HTC One M8…the one that took Nokia’s double tap to wake), placing it on the table to set loudspeaker on, ending a call by putting it in your pocket or dismissing notifications by waving at the screen.

Other cool and seemingly natural features use the detection of grip, which combined with 3D touch can block the orientation switch, e.g. when you’re lying down in bed. Ooh, one of the things I’ve been wishing since early Symbian days was for the sides to be touch interactive. This may be the case here too! Sliding a finger can enable zoom. Removal of buttons seems to be the way. A particular grip may even turn the phone on.

Perhaps we won’t see all that today. If anything like McLaren was due soon, then wouldn’t we be seeing pictures from @evleaks already? Nokia, even under D&S, would presumably keep their teasers firing if we were to expect such a thing. Maybe there’s something else?

Cheers BK for the tip!
