Well here’s a mega bargain if I did see one. Entering the prices of the almost disposable and certainly back up phone, Carphone Warehouse has the Quadcore Nokia Lumia 530 at an amazing £39.95! However, as Tom Warren corrects in the comments, this is for a “Pay as you go Upgrade”. Brand new on pay as you go, it sells for 69.99. Still good value.

If Carphone Warehouse continues their usual tradition, their handsets are usually unlocked.

What is a pay as you go upgrade?

A Pay as you go upgrade allows you to upgrade your phone to a new handset and stay on your current Pay as you go plan.”

Who’s eligible?

It must have been more than 6 months since you purchased your phone or last upgraded on your network. You can currently only upgrade on O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Virgin networks.”

So it’s still possible I guess to get a bargain.

Oddly enough, the 520 is more expensive to upgrade. It’s right up there on their best sellers.

They also make a point that you can upgrade even if you didn’t buy your phone from CPW. Or Dixons Carphone whatever the heck they’re called now.
